I have 6 BRF jars of B+ and 6 of Gulf Coast. Every single B+ jar has some brownish/tan spots on the mycelium, but the Gulf Coast does not. All the jars are three weeks old and just about ready to be birthed. I noticed these spots about a week and a half ago, right on the mycelium. There's no funky smell, the spots haven't moved or spread any in the last week and a half. Also, the mycelium has been spreading at the steady rate with no sign of any other contamination.
This is my first time cultivating fungus, so I'm worried the B+ jars are contaminated. It doesn't LOOK like contamination to me, more like some sort of discoloration of the mycelium either from not enough water, too much water or too high humidity.
All the jars were done at the same time, so I'm wondering if I can rule out the possiblity that the exact 6 jars of B+ might be contaminated, but ALL the Gulf Coast are fine? Anybody really familiar with the B+ strain ever notice this phenomenon? I only have one terrarium and I'm really worried about birthing the B+ together with Gulf Coast, because I might lose all of them if it turns out to be contamination. Any help or suggestions would be appriciated. Thanks.
