We're not dead yet!

If our species is to be saved in a way that we can live on the answer is love.

Even if we are past the point of no return and there is no way to save our species the answer is still love.

Whether the reason is to save us all from extinction or to raise our vibration before extinction spreading a message of peace, love and understanding, as cheesy as this may seem, should be our focus.

Just because I believe as a whole the race is going down, any individual can construct a fairly wholesome life for them self, with a bit of luck and skill.

IMO those guys gave us and encouraged the idea that we can explore our own minds and draw our own conclusions.

Many people dislike Leary because he felt the masses could handle their own psychedelic research. Without him I may never have been able to touch the stuff.

Care to elucidate? I'm curious how Leary was such an influence, more so than Shulgin or acquaintances or yours at the time of you becoming capable of touching the stuff? What about the writing/action/legacy/myth of Leary was so influential on you?

I didn't say he was more of an influence than Shulgin (whom I love). He came first and against "orders" started throwing LSD around and proclaiming it a helpful aid in the angst of modern mental illness.

He risked his career to spread the word on these substances, landed in jail and lost credibility in the academic world. Just for love (and his own ego gratification).:satansmoking:

He encouraged us to "Question Authority"

So unfortunate how many potentially indispensable lives, (in an academic sense), were lost in the early days of Hoffman's discovery and the prosecution post-late-sixties/early-seventies.

Even more unfortunate, how many lives, (academically and simply social), have been lost by the repercussions of this enlightenment apartheid.

It seems to me that this prohibitory stance, (on physically safe illicit drugs), is in it's final round, due to the utilization of such communities as this and information potential for exchange.

But still, I understand your response, but what specifically about Leary was more influential to you, enough to give you cause to dive into the abyss, as opposed to family/friends/authors/politicians/carrots? What specifically?

I'm simply curious, I'm not to well read of Leary, I'd like somewhere to start, and I imagine you may well have one my friend. :grin: It's good to converse with you once again.

Ego gratification seems like an interesting reason for spreading such a perspective, although it is fair to admit that this sort of substance/experience is almost entirely subjective and environmentally based.

Cant remember the name of my favorite book but it's not "The psychedelic experience".

He just represented freedom from the constraints of my personal family negative christian culture. I really didn't read him until a few years ago but when I was young he was a symbol I could latch on to.
