Optimism vs. Pessimism
    #5600611 - 05/07/06 10:21 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

On one side the Optimist is a person who feels things can be accomplished. He feels great to do things on a daily basis. To create things is to be optimistic, and to flourish in his ways.

On the other note a Pessimist is a person who is always looking down on things that he cannot accomplish. If he cannot accomplish it it is still looked at as something that the pessimist cannot do. For the things the pessimist cannot do there is never progress coming from him/her.

Now I am actually both an optimist and pessimist at times. One day I will feel really good and get some things accomplished, simple things like waking up and cooking breakfast, then on to lunch and dinner with hopeful intention. Now when I am pessimistic I am out and down and really don't feel like doing anything, sorta like depressed.

On my good days of being optimistic I get things done around my house, I feel good and like to get things accomplished for that day.

So are you optimistic or pessimistic?

Octavius

I am mostly optimistic. I consider myself to be talented and capable, and I appreciate the oppurtunity to apply myself, to accomplish things. I strive to further develop myself and to advance in every regard.

I try to not become submerged in negativity and destructive, obstructive perspectives. When I make mistakes, I take note of them and look for ways to improve. When I do become emotionally upset, afraid of venturing off into the world, etc., I try to simply experience it and begin to seek what is causing the experience. I then identify it and work on myself to move on from it.

Etc. etc. etc.

i believe a balance is needed.

concerning my own abilities, and what I can do, I am optimistic.
concerning others, and what they can do, I am pessimistic.

one of those grass is always greener on my side things...

I'm definitely an optimist. I'm very cynical so some people who don't understand the difference between optimism and pessimism view me as a pessimist.

I have more faith in myself than I have in anybody else. Of course, I know my strengths and weaknesses so I do yield when my knowledge on a specific subject isn't as advanced as somebody else's. My friends call me optimistic because I feel like I can shape my world. I agree with them.
