raising a thug puppy

hey, i just got a new puppy about 3 weeks ago, anyone know how to get her to stop biting, chewing and stealing everything in sight?
  theres plenty of chewsticks and toys around but she likes my hands and stuff more.
while i was posting on here she managed to steal the power chord for my moblie hard drive, take it under my bed and chew it to pieces.
shes cute as hell but such a theif, a basenji breed btw.

Take that dog on at least 2 long walks a day to zap some of that energy. Take it on a run and he will come home and sleep for awhile too.

beautiful dog, lol a walk did help when my collie was a puppy 2 years ago but she still destroyed everything in  sight, eventually she jus grew out of it. she is good as gold now used to be a nightmare.

yeah, i defintally need to take her for more walks, if i can survive my jack russel terrier as a puppy i can stand her.

basenjis are herders and have been bred for having a ton of energy. if you have a backyard, set up a run - otherwise, get ready to take a lot of long walks :smile:


cute dog, btw! i love how basenji's don't/can't bark but instead make that eerie howling noise.

That dog is absolutely gorgeous.  We were going to get a basenji if we didn't get our dalmation mutt.  I love those colors on a dog.  :awesome:


And the walking is great advice.  Victoria Stillwell recommends that time after time on "It's me or the dog" and it works.  Tired dogs are very well behaved and happy.

the howl/ yodel is the weirdest and loudest dog noise i have ever herd. when my parents crate her in the morning before i get up she howls and howls for atleast an hour it sounds like im torturing a stripper in the basement. im suprised no ones called the cops yet.

lol im convinced shes a nine inch nails fan, i cranked up terrible lie and she went into spaz mode biteing everything in site.

spay vinegar on whatever she chews on. dogs can't stand it and the smell will fade pretty quickly from w/e you spray.
