One of mine is little over 3 feet tall and has a single flower; guess it's my early seed starting ways.

ive read turks do well indoors and have seen a fully mature 2 foot specimen in a small pot with numerous pods done indoors, i was just starting the seeds indoors under fluorescent, its been to cold at night to put them out so i thought they would be cool under 24 hours of light indoors until it heats up a bit

i did not expect them to flower with all the space for roots in the large pots they are in and 24 hour lighting, oh well its almost time for outdoor planting:shrug:

Giving poppies 24 hours of light forces them to flower, they're long day plants (Someone else was having a problem with stunted growth just a week ago and made the same mistake). If you grow poppies indoors you need to start with a 12/12 light cycle so they veg. starting them out at 24/0 will just 'confuse' them and they'll try to bolt as soon as they are out of the ground, putting very few resources into actually growing. I've had lots of success growing poppies indoors under HPS but you need to watch the light cycle and watering + no transplanting.

Sushi just hit the nail on the head here. I made the same mistake when I first started with poppies: I left them on my 18/6 for salvia. My black paeony started flowering at a similar time, so I doubt it has much to do with being a dwarf strain.

that's pretty neat, when i get my arse in gear and get some lighting (so it will probably be next year that i eventually get to try this) i'm gonna make some dwarf poppies
