Nice conks

I'm going nuts waiting for the temps to get up so i can find some mushrooms.I just found  these where i camp.Last years growth.Anyone know what they are.Found in Iowa,river bottom.On a dead cotton wood i think. I thought they just look cool as hell. The underside photo was one from near the ground still growing i think i have some antib agar make up so im going to see if i can get a culture going

Not sure what the mushrooms are but I like the line in your sig, "burn the land and boil the sea but you can't take the sky from me." Did you get that from the theme song for the show "Firefly"? I've always loved that song and hear it playing in my head every time I fly. (I have a pilot's license by the way.)

Ya, I loved that show too. When the movie for it came out (Serenity), I liked it a lot too but was also disappointed because they killed off two of the characters. I was kinda hoping they was going to bring it back to TV when I first seen the advertisements for the movie but, after watching it, I knew that wasn't going to happen. Fox dumped a lot of good shows that year.

I saw lots of those today, they have thicker gills.

If I am seeing pic # 3 correctly, this has lots of thin, brownish gills?

Interesting Polypore, we don't have anything like it in California.

A better macro shot of the underside would help a lot, a lot of polypores look the same from the top and the underside is where the differences are.
