Do you think some shroomerites are enlightened?

I've come to decide that enlightenment must be an actual and discrete step in human development where one disengages identification with their ego. I base this on the teachings/philosophy of Eckharte Tolle, Ken Wilber, Robert Anton Wilson, etc.

Enlightenment is such a joke around here. How can people talk about losing their egos, and then use a pompous term like "enlightened" to describe their own mental state?

Taking anything in OTD seriously, btw, is grounds for your OWN mental weakness, not the weakness of the people doing the insulting. In buddhism, one becomes a buddha when they are enlightened, so throughout history there have been a handful of buddhas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Buddhas).

I doubt any of them are on the shroomery.

What the fuck is enlightenment. Around here I see almost the same mediocrity I see everywhere else. Maybe the Buddhas were enlightened, never met them, can't tell, but I can tell a bunch of stoners who think the police should die and everyone should be dosed LSD didn't really reach the Nirvana.

Now that's just me, but I didn't even need mushrooms or anything to figure out stuff some guys around here call "enlightenment". I actually figured those thinks when I was maybe 15. And I see many people smarter than me, everyday.

I think psychedelics can give temporary spiritual and intellectual enlightenment. I don't think it can last more than a few hours. But I think with psychedelics the enlightenment you get is pure insanity also. I think enlightenment while sober may be possible but probably extremely rare. I would rather just be happy with everything and never have to worry about anything. That would be very difficult because my mind is always active and thinking about the problems of the world and my own problems. And it's as close to enlightenment as I'd ever want to be.

I think enlightenment is just a state of mind. There's many definitions of it, and I don't think it's far fetched to consider that some people are completely enlightened while sober.
