being forced to go to rehab

well this blows. i have to do 3 weeks in inpatient rehab, otherwise i might go to prison. i didn't even fail a drug test, i just admitted i had been smoking marijuana before my PO even said anything about me taking a drug test. so i had to go to some place and they told me the only option is inpatient rehab.

apparently i have a problem with marijuana. well, in reality, they have a problem with me not having a problem with marijuana. my problem is with benzos, not marijuana, and ive told them that. after 14 different medications and being addicted to benzos, i said fuck it and started smoking weed. its the only thing that actually chills me out that hardly has any side effects to it, and it helps me not take klonopin or xanax or anything.

i cant wait to get off probation. im ready to move to cali and get a medical card. my life would be a hell of a lot easier.

so since im leaving in a couple days. i bought an 8th of some nice dank last night, so im high as fuuck right now. gotta have a little fun right before having to be sober for the next 4 years.

If you haven't been piss tested they can't send you to rehab, you'd have to go in voluntarily. Otherwise they need proof that you use.

You would have been better off holding off on that dank. You would be let off if you were clean.

PS - do yourself a favor and don't listen to half the shit that comes out your POs mouth, they like to put the fear into you.

haha ive been dirty as fuck for a long time. no way im pissin clean for a while. i admitted i had been smoking. i didnt deny it.

my PO recommended me go somewhere to get evaluated. they recommended i do 3 weeks in inpatient rehab. i had the option of saying no. but i decided to do it cause it would have been worse off if i didnt. i would probably have to do 4 months in jail.

Three weeks sounds much better than 4 months, and you can use that time to get your head together. :shrug: That's what I would do. Be careful about the benzos man.

Your on probation for 4 years? Yikes, that sucks. Get the hell out of there and go to cali!

what's bad is that being on probation is far more difficult than
being on parole, my brother rejected probation after several months
and decided he'd finish out his time in prison, it allowed him to
be done with it in less time than probation was affording him

im not convicted. im on probation for it, but if i fuck up on probation i go back to court and get around 10 years. since im not convicted, once i get off probation its cleaned off my record.

im just gonna spend the 3 weeks reading and probably keeping to myself. theres always the chance ill know someone in there too. that could be good or bad.

Nah they wouldn't send you for 4 months, maybe 4 weeks, if that. my understanding is you haven't really done anything wrong besides maybe a violation of probation, which is entirely up to the PO, or at least it was when I was on probation. But yeah, detox drinks don't work for probation tests(they test for the detox) so you'd be screwed unless you had one of those urine bladder things.

Your 3 week rehab program should be completed in 2,(I've had two 2 month sentences and only served 6 weeks on each) just think of it as a vacation.

Your gonna meet a lot of dumbfuck drug counselors in there that think they know their shit because they too were drug addicts at one point in their lives(most of them), but I can pretty well guarantee at least half of them will tell you that you smoke the leaves of the marijuana plant. If they don't know what the fuck it is they shouldn't be working there.

Anyway best of luck to you, rehab can be fun if you allow it to be.

Do you have a court date set on account of your "violation?"

If not, you may be volunteering yourself for rehab unnecessarily.

Even a failed drug test (which you did not take) is not considered a violation of probation without a court date.

It takes a judge to officially say you have violated your probation.

If I were you, I would get clean and show up for next month's probation appointment with money in hand, and a story about how you are on some type of waiting list at the rehab.

Is it not a possibility that your PO is a ballbuster who is telling you to check into rehab without any court order, or has he/she given you a deadline of some sort.

POs play alot of games.

She could be thinking that she is doing you a favor by having you spend thousands on what she considers to be your necessary "rehabilitation."

If you absolutely had to go to rehab, you should let them send you to a state-run facility for free.

Being on probation sucks. The best you can hope for is a nice PO.

You talk too much.  No offense, but you have to lie to your PO and you must act it out as well... 

Just don't tell them all that crap when they don't know more than what they already do.

I never had to lie myself, I had some big ole balls on me when I was a young teen.

if it's free you may want to consider it because on first
offenders you can really fuck yourself if you dont abide by the
wishes of your PO, the judge may not be getting laid and that
could affect the outcome of your hearing, the only time I'd
advise against it is if it's going to seriously jeapordize your
ability to live after rehab

3 weeks? Thats a long time but, Dude I did over 10 months in a rehab for smoking pot. We had to run and run and run and do chores 3 times a day it sucked balls but, three weeks you can make it man...

It sucks, but 3 weeks in rehab is a great alternative to any amount of time in jail.  Except an overnight, or a weekend.  Heh

I've been to court-appointed inpatient rehab twice and outpatient once.

It's definitely better than jail.

Don't argue with those folks too much about whether you have a problem with this or that.  It won't get you anywhere.

Just nod your head and go along with them, and admit to having a problem.  Arguing about the details is considered denial, and it could earn you a longer stay.

You can decide for yourself when you get out whether you want to change your life. 

Sometimes I really felt like I was missing out on life when I was in rehab, but looking back I realize that I learned some very important things about myself in there.

Make the best of it, brother.

You're gonna be eating good, for sure!

actually thats what she said. she said they have really good food. im suprised. why is that? im not even paying to go and i get good food? hell i hope i can eat whenever i want.

Eating good? Shit were I was at we had like 10 11 freezers and a 18 wheeler came every week with a load of food! They had to feed 18 teenagers ranging from 14-18. Ice cream we had it all but, Yeah where I was at was more of a mind game here is how I would put my 10 month experience with it. Put a bunch of wild monkeys in a cage throw in the word "accountability" and shake it LOL....

Yeah, you know, alot of folks get to rehab when they have not been eating right, so they feed you good.  Coffee flows abundantly too!  It's not so bad dude.  3 weeks?  You'll be fine.

10 months is a different story.  Holy shit.  Did they do you like that in Amsterdam?  Surely not.

When I was 17, I went to a 3 month program, and when I was 20 I went to another 3 month program.  When I was 23, I went to the outpatient program I was talking about, but it was 18 months, with the first three months 3 hrs a night for three nights a week.  What a bitch when you are working a full-time job.
