TV is fucked. Its now all reality shows and shit. If I want reality and give a fuck about other peoples lives and what they're doing, I'd walk out my front door and go out into the world.
Whereas video games I like because they ARE NOT reality. Like books. I'd rather get lost in a classic epic RPG than watch flavor flav and the fucking bachelor. It's just a story, no different than a book in modern format, but interactive. Thats all I can say for RPGs though, thats what I enjoy most.
Now WOW is fucking gay, but my aunts BF plays it, has his whole WOW battle station setup thing in the basement. But he works and has a good job, has a life, they have a nice house, etc etc. Its just a HOBBY. Just dont let video games take over your life and you shouldnt feel any worse about it than reading or watching TV.
Video games are like many things, just moderate!
Also weed and video games go great together, for whoever said when they started using mary jane they stopped playing vidyer games, try it sometime
