Being into video games as an adult.............

what are your thoughts on it?  Be honest. no bashing or drama. I am just curious what everyone thinks.

I'll say my honest opinion:  I think your average adult wastes tons of time watching tv, so in that respect I don't see how videogames can be a bad thing.  I think RPG's that involve you to play all day are bad.  It does feel weird though sitting around playing video games as a 20 year old compared to when I was 17.

Want to hear some more insight though. I feel like videogames have a bad stigma too them.

I used to play video games 24/7, until I discovered the magic of marijuana at age eighteen. I don't know if it's a direct correlation or not but the discovery of drugs seemed to significantly reduce my overall time spent glued to a screen and controller. At this point I couldn't get into something like WOW even if I wanted to.

Still, I enjoy a good video game from time to time. True classics like Fallout 3 are definitely worth playing. Video gaming has become an adult medium every bit as much as movies. There's no shame in playing them as an adult, as long as your priorities are straight.

i liked them when i was a kid.
I can't play for very long now, i lose interest quickly.
I don't see any problem with it though, its just like wasting time on anything else.

In some ways marijuana makes me think, why the fuck am I playing "games". but on the other hand it can also make video game experiences way more interesting. I can't wait to play some upcoming mega games high on the ps3. But I hear what you are saying. I def can't play 24/7 when I'm blazing- seems stupid.

It is also correct that video games are an adult entertainment medium just like anything else.  It feels weird though if I play a game online and have some kids playing with me online, but I guess adults and young people can enjoy the same entertainment sometimes. A good example being the movie- Dark Knight

IMO WOW is about on the same level as heroin. It's too bad controlled substances only include distinct molecules. :shake:

Seriously though, video games are fun, and they really are better than ever right now with the technology and the Internet and everything. They're a great way to fill up your leisure time. When they become more than that, you may want to examine your lifestyle. :wink:

These days I actually prefer to spend my freetime outside on nature hikes, but video games are good when I can't find anyone to go with me or the weather is shitting on me.

Sorry, but its humorous for you to compare 17 and 20.  I mean, neither are really "adults".

Its even more strange playing after 26 and into your 30's.  I rarely play except for quick turns on the DS every now and then.

I grew up on Nintendo 8 bit. Completely stopped playing vids in college.

I like the Wii tho and would consider buying one.

My bro in law is 30 something and still plays videogames, a lot.

I'm 27 and I still play video games. I'm surprised anyone would even think that's weird. But my taste in games hasn't changed that much over the years, and sometimes there will be a new popular game that's too fast or complicated for me or I just can't grasp the controls, and that makes me feel old. :sad:

Video games used to entertain me....now I see them just as a distraction.

When I sit and play a video game for 2 or 3 hours I feel like I just tossed that time in the trash can.

Unless I'm hella wasted and the company is good its still fun.

Unfortunately my roommates are addicted to them and I often find myself chilling on the couch staring off into space wondering what the shit I should be doing with myself.

Video games are definitely good when you have time to kill, but it's just sad when kids OR adults stay inside on a gorgeous day to play video games for hours. I spent most of my childhood inside squandering all the most beautiful sunny days playing video games, and I regret it a lot. Though I am glad I know better now. :crazy:

I hear that. I think video games are better to be played at night or on non beautiful days.

I like getting on xbox live and harassing the shit out of all the little dwerberts that are getting their rocks off on the shit with their clans and gangs and whatnot.

I am not into clans or any of that shit.  I am mostly into interesting type of games like flow and flower, and occasionally some epic games like god of war, and the skate series is really solid
