So I'm playin Chrono Trigger, and I finally defeat Nizbel after 3 absolutely fuckin epic battles to retrieve the Gate Key, and I'm feelin pretty confident about my battling skills, so I decide it'd be a good idea to go poke around in the Pterodactyl's Nest before returning to The End of Time to save my game, and I got completely owned in the Pterodactyl's Nest and all three of us died and I lost my game, and I don't have the strength left to try again right now.

Crono Trigger is incrediblicious. I didn't know you could die at the Dactyl nest, at least I don't remember ever fighting there, and I've played that game through over 5 times.
I like the prehistoric age in the game, I wish there was more to do there. You should try it again, you can do it!
Are you playing on an emulator, or with the cartridge? I played the ending only of the game just a few days ago to show a friend a certain one of the 12 or 13 possible endings.

That game is fucking awesome. 2nd best RPG of all time and both were made 15 years ago or some shit.
Any way time to go back a few steps and do some character building.
My question is is it possible to defeat Spekkio and if yes how?

Yup, it's possible. You just have to do it when you're strong compared to whatever his present form is. If you fight him when you first meet him he'll kick your ass, but if you come back to him before he's turned into the next strongest creature you can beat him if you're strong enough.
Also, beating him gives you a bunch of items, including permenant stat boost, like power tabs or magic tabs or speed tabs. You get a few free items for beating him once for each of his forms.

I tried again the next day and beat him on the first try, but I haven't had a chance to play since then...I'm jonesin pretty hard.
And to whomever asked whether I'm playin a cartridge or a ROM, it is indeed a cartridge.
