frankly i have found it to do nothing by itself, but it does seem to alter effects of other things...so it has its uses!  i don't find the nepet leaves harsh, in fact i use them with tobacco to make it easier to smoke and to also weaken the smoke.

Would you say the nepet leaves are a more pleasant smoke than it's or leonuris' flowers?

It is certainly not an mj high, but I notice effects from all three.

The aesthetics come once flowering begins. I get a lot of comments on it from ppl who see my yard.

yes.

above motherwort was mentioned (Leonurus)....its not useless, but it is a herb not a narcotic.  it is useful as a herb, but wont get you high.  i used to grow and use it a lot.....also has its charm, in an ugly weed kind of way.
