Leonotis Leonuris vs. Naepetefolia
    #9872524 -

Does anyone have experience with both of these strains? Are there any significant differences so that I should be careful in which vendor I order from? I've read mixed reviews, so I wanted to make sure I have the optimal plant before buying the seeds and starting the grow.

Thanks, that sounds like a pretty good idea.

Have you tried Leonotis Sibericus or any other strain? I've read that some vendors market naepetefolia as leonuris...

Careful where this source discussion goes... :hehehe:
The only experience I've had with this plant is getting shipped seeds that never germinated.

There a a couple of vendors that have it all wrong, at least IME. Can't say who they are unfortunately. Motherwort and all that is a waste of time IMO. Just stick with what you've been talking about.

I've smoked the leonorus flowers, you nee quite a bit to get off, oh and the seeds dont germinate unless they have lots of sun, i tried them ndoor and they never germinated, tried again sprinkling them on the top and keeping them moist, put them out in the sun and they had all popped up by the next day.

I've never had a problem germing them indoor. I no longer grow it though. I'm past it, and most importantly they aren't aesthetic.

Thanks for the tip, man! Yeah, come to think of it, the last time I tried to grow them was indoors and before I had any artificial lighting to speak of.

You don't think they're aesthetic?

I'm on a long bout of probation and have been getting into gardening, so I thought I'd try my hand at some legal highs since I decently mastered the illegal ones

I'm growing them outdoors, so hopefully I can get a pretty large patch of them going and make an extract later on.

Any opinions on wild vs. klip dagga potency-wise?

it's been said that klip is stronger not too much difference IMO besides that klip has spiky balls. They both contain leonurine and between the two they contain other different minor alkaloids I remember reading that's why they theoretically synergize better. Seeds are cheap why not grow both, are you growing anything else this summer?

I was just curious; I will probably get both once I find a good vendor.

I got in a lot of trouble at college and had to move back home.. so I've been debating on asking my parents if I can grow some herbs that are similar to the coffee they drink or just growing them for their aesthetics and consuming unbenounced to them..

Others I'm looking at growing are kanna, passion flower, coleus, khat, and syrian rue. The passion flower and coleus especially interest me for their lucid dreaming possibilities. I might even try my hand at calea zacatechichi.

Any thoughts concerning the effects or cultivation of any of these? I had some serious debates with myself about growing morning glory, poppies, and plants containing dmt, but I decided against it, since in the end the substances themselves are still illegal..

EDIT:

Holy shit! I just realized your avatar is Cactuar from FFVIII, right?? I haven't played that game in sooo long...

yeah it's a cactuar  don't know from which game how do you know it's from VIII and not X though:grin:
You don't get drug tested right? If you did I don't think they test for dmt and what would the syrian rue be for anyway, although you can some effects alone it wouldn't be worth it IMO.MOrning glorise super easy if you have space and a structure to let it climb, Kanna I've only tried twice mild mood lifter for me almost stimulating which I really liked.I hear it takes a couple times to notice effects same with others like dagga I'm gonna grow this myself.Khat takes a long time to grow I hear and plus it's not legal if you live in the US otherwise sounds great for a stimulant. I hear scuttelaria baicalensis(as well as nana and galericulata harder to find) is a nice sedation same with pedicularis species, but pedicularis is harder to grow.

I've never played X.. I just knew he wasn't in VII, XI, or tactics. 10000 needles was quite deadly.

I do get drug tested actually. I know they aren't typically tested for, but DMT and LSA are still technically illegally, and with where I'm at, I don't want to take any chances really..

I've found rue to have a very powerful effect if prepared correctly...similar to an ayahuasca experience without the depth and vibrant color the dmt provides. Vision tends to be very blue-green. Rue definitely has it's own character (which is why the maoi is equally as important as the dmt source when preparing aya - some say rue is too harsh of a teacher) This is actually the only plant I've used out of all the ones I plan to grow. The yield for the effort is not very good from what I understand, but I'm in it for the enjoyment of growing something just as much.

I wasn't aware khat was illegal. A little erowid-ing confime your claim. Thanks for the heads up.

I heard dwark skullcap seeds were difficult to obtain? More research I suppose.. Aren't the effects of pedicularis very similar to leonotis?

I believe they have a reverse tolerance, though.

I've grown sibiricus that was significantly stronger than leonurus or nepetifolia.  It was confirmed by others, so I imagine it's a matter of genetics or age of the plant. I used relatively young growth...before flowering.

I find klip and wild dagga to be great aesthetically. I grow klip indoors and out every year. The seeds are generally easy to germinate, but I've heard of people not getting results until they watered more. If grown at home, they should both be pretty good IMO.

Also, to the OP, just to clarify, the three plants are species, not strains.  And I recently tried pedicularis densiflora for the first time. I found it to be quite an effective tranquilizer as far as plants go.  it is not suited for the novice grower though.  You'd be best off with buying the herb for that one.

besides bubble hash, ice hash and extracts leonotis won't be that noticable,or maybe I should say inconsistent, but reverse tolerance like you said probably plays a role. Everybody that has gotten good pedicularis always says it's good and tastes good. Dagga is harsh and burns the back of your throat even if your using a bong maybe combining the 2 would be better to even out taste harshness. I know of one place at least that sells seeds so yeah very rare if you want get the chines scullcap(scutellaria baicalensis)supposed to be a little less potent, but very easy to find, easy to grow too, and easily survives drought. I heard this is somewhat harsh to smoke, I would have a hard time imagining harsher than dagga though. It's been a while here too i thought they were in VII , cactuars are in IX also great games though:awesome:

Everything I've read points to neptefolia having stronger leaves while leonotis has stronger flowers. I'm growing klip dagga now, and perhaps I'm doing something wrong, but I wouldn't recommend it for anything but aesthetics. The smoke is very harsh, and it really doesn't do much - maybe I'm just too used to MJ to enjoy it :p

dagga will never get you a mj high...ever....never....

frankly i have found it to do nothing by itself, but it does seem to alter effects of other things...so it has its uses!  i don't find the nepet leaves harsh, in fact i use them with tobacco to make it easier to smoke and to also weaken the smoke.

not sure why everyone keeps harping on dagga saying its a harsh smoke....pussies.  go smoke some yopo and say that lol....really i always thought of dagga to be quite a pleasant smoke....i always figured that was the real reason it was used in smoking blends

maybe the leaves are less harsh? I could take the biggest hit of mj I've ever taken and that wouldn't hurt my throat as bad as that stuff( can snort kanna pretty good too only done it twice though didn't feel pain like most really besides it going up my nose) it's got a little sting or something in the back throat maybe it's just the flowers I'm not a pussy just tellin the truth I can still smoke it although sometimes not enjoyable.

I may have to try my hand at all three and decide for myself then.
