whether yr religious or not, religion has provided humanity with many wonderful points. Classical art (song, painting, sculpture, etc) was entirely about religion. I mean, try to tell me that Michaelangelo would've been better off just not doing the Sistine Chapel. Also, religion has been used many times for peace advocacy and promoting pacifism. Ghandi, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, Dorothy Day, Thomas Merton... all of these people were politically involved for a good notion of peace as the result of a passionate faith.
Once again, I'm not religious, but I think you all are being way too short-minded about religion. It has its flaws that are wonderfully revealed in shit like "Jesus Camp" (they're fucking disgusting people) but it also has its really incredible aspects too that should be recognized.
