piratebay and utorrent

im new to this so what do i do once something has finished downloading.

well go to where it downloaded, for me i use azureus for my bit torrent client. its in the documents folder usually. but i really dont understand your question...just open the file?

you'll want to get WinRar, if you don't already have it

a lot of times torrents will be compressed in .rar files

In uTorrent you can just right click and 'open containing folder' if you don't know where it is. I'm not sure what you downloaded, but if it's a video (usually .avi) then just open it with WMP, if it doesn't work I'd suggest getting vlc. That will work with pretty much anything.

If it's a .rar or .r00, r01,r02 etc. or some form of .r w/e then you need to extract it with winrar. Just extract the lowest number or the .rar (if there is one) and it'll extract them all.

If it's a .iso, .cda, .bin/.cue, .img, or something else download daemon tools and mount it (should be self explanatory once installed), or burn it with your favorite burning software. Be sure to burn as an image, not a data CD.

also, alot of video files over torrents are different codecs, i use VLC player more often than winamp, you should get it

i was able to find the downloads but when i try to play them it says this

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly.

does other music play correctly?

if so, you might have downloaded the wrong kind of file.

make sure you download mp3's from wherever it is your getting your torrents.
or you can download .rar files, but then you have to extract them.

i restarted the computer and tried it again and it still brought up the same message. i even tried playing a cd and got nothing.

any ideas?

that happened to me once when i deleted an essential file for my sound card, on accident.

you'll probably have to reinstall the sound card driver.
