i should've been a litlle clearer in my prediction. i think the pittsburg will beat the spread to make it a 14 point game. but then again, you never know what might happen. theres been alot of upsets this year.

ok cards have no run game. well at lest a run game that would cause the steelers any problems. That beening said steelers will go with a cover 2 blitz whole game. force kurt to move. when kurt has to move he throws int his record shows that. Cards have 2 tricks with #11 the clear drag route and the double move thats it. cover 2 takes the big play away keeps everything in front of you. Steelers up by 14 first half and run off center rest of the game. steelers 21 cards 7.

i hate to say it,  but the Cardinals have a coaching edge.



If you think about it, Whisenhunt is the man primarily responsible for the development of Ben Roethlisburger.  He's the one who implanted the offensive system built around Big Ben as it's core.  Which means, he pretty much knows all the secrest of the team, the strengths, weaknesses on offense, gameplans, etc.



If you look at 2007 when the Steelers played Arizona, they were completely outcoached throughout the game.  And the fact that Bruce Arians is now runnning the offense doesn't help the situation much at all.  The man has zero experience as an O coordinator, so he pretty much did nothing but continue to use the system Whisenthunt put into place, except for the occasional 2 TE set he has such a hard boner for.

Bruce Arians, is probably one of the WORST offensive coordinators in the league.


THe play calling, formation use, it was all terrible.


I can link you to several articles written by the post gazette over the dissatisfaction of players with Arians playcalling and formations.


It's been going on ever since Whisenhunt left and Tomlin came in.



If you're wonderin how this team made the superbowl, the only answer is, the friggin Dick LeBeau Defense.

not really. ben had problems with the play calling that whisenhunt did.Ben wanted to do things diffrent. Also this year ben has been doing more of the play calling and running the hurry up.Also parker was not the main back. You also need to look at the passing game steelers have, which has won them more games this year then the run. remember the steelers where down to 3rd back as the starter and have ben win those games.

Also you have to take Whisenhunt and LeBeau know each other, so does the steeler D know him 1 st hand. Az does not have that 1st hand knowagle of the steeler coaches.

lebeau will run the same D aginst AZ as he did aginst the ravens. cover with end biltz and force AZ to run.

How many of tose AZ recivers want to get hit as the ravens did?

Uhm, Ben was a rookie when Whis was O coordinator.  I have a hard time believing a rookie QB would feel the need to disagree with the playcalling of an nfl coordinator.  In fact, there are several articles on the post-gazette back a couple seasons talking about how Whisenhunt's system nurtured the development of Ben Roethlisburger by not only limiting the number of passes he made, but also minimizing the number of high risks passing situations he was placed in.


I know later on they began having differences, but within the first two years of Ben's career, he was not criticizing the man who helped him lead a 15-1 record and a subsequent super bowl victory.

The play calling he does is pretty much more in the no huddle drives than anything else.  THis is also a testament to the incompetence of Bruce Arians.

And it's not just all about Ben.  The I formation system and 3 slot formation that the players like Willie Parker and Hines Ward have constantly campaigned for are what worked back when Whis was running the offense.  Arians' terrible 2TE set was pretty much a failing attempt at putting his own signature on the offense.  If it isn't broke, why fix it, right?

If there's anything that's won them the games, it's neither aspect of the offense.  Both the passing and running game have been pretty damn ineffective.  Look how low both rank this year.  Santonio didn't even have a single 100 yard recieving game this year


It's the defense that's been winning the games.  The last time the Steelers even had a potent passing game was back when Whis was coordinator.  People openly criticize Bruce Arians because of how he insists on utilizing HEath Miller as a fucking blockng TE in his 2 TE set.

You're forgetting about Russ Grimm.  He had been the O line coach for a number of years before leaving.  And look how many more sacks Ben has been taking since he left.


All i'm trying to say is, that the offense is clearly alot worse than it was before Whisenhunt left.  And there's a very good indication of this in the upcoming super bowl.

LeBeau deserves some serious credit, but at the same time, most casual fans are too hung up on his nutsack to point out more persistent flaws, like his failure to adjust to a fast screen passing game, or early game play action drives.

That's basically how we lost to philly.





Even when u look at the cardinals game last year, you have to sit and wonder, just how a team so bad at the time, were able to EASILY beat the Steelers.  It's all in the coaching edge.

I have only one thing to disagree with you. The O line after the philly game started to inprove through out the season. Look a the afc game, they picked up the blitz well aginst the #2 D. Sorry i don't see AZ being able to put pressure on ben like the ravens. You also have to look at how AZ did aginst teams like the steelers/ravens/NE. NE game was bad. 44 points?

The only chance AZ has to beat the steelers is BIG plays. The Raven and chargers tried that. LB "Foote" was asked in post game what changed aginst the ravens and he said "played more cover 2".
Unless AZ gets two big TD plays the steelers are just going to play smash mouth grind you down football.

All that needs to be done is watch the double move by #11 and his drag route. Get back side rush on kurt make him move. Kurts old making him move will limit his down field throws make him throw short. And hit the recivers everytime. On offence side get the run going then play action.Az LB will over play the run once parker gets going and the 8 to 10 yrd passes will eat the cards up. Thats where TE miller will once again pick up 1st down after 1st down.

The Cardinals played New England in the snow and pretty much said they didn't care if they won that game.  They left starters in Az to heal and it was snowing and the team didn't need it.

They haven't played the STeelers or Baltimore this year.  They did play the Eagles though and managed not to give up 8 sacks somehow.

If the Steelers are to be successful, their best shot is to get pressure onto Warner.  IF they are able to that the Cardinals might be in trouble.  But the CArds have been good at dealing with the blitz so far during the post season. 

And there is no taking Fitzgerald out of the play.  The guy's a monster.  He's going to make plays, no matter what you try to do to defend him.
