I WANT A CAMERA. Will have to use loan money if I get one. Is this a great deal?

I'm thinking about just not buying one because of course I can live just fine without one. But I always always want to take pictures and feel that this one would bring me joy. Maybe. Is this a good idea?

If you want a point and shoot camera that is very nice for the price.  The only disadvantage with that is the memory card is a relatively new format and many photo shops won't be able to read it.  Now remember, the only cool thing about a 10 megapixel camera is that you can blow up pictures poster size with high quality.  If you don't intend on blowing up pictures to poster size, then you're just paying for something you don't need.  I have a Sony F717.  It's only a 5.0 megapixel camera, but the lens that comes with it damn near makes it a professional quality camera.  I found one on Ebay for you to check out.  http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-MPEG-HQX-Video-Movie-Digital-Still-Camera-DSC-F717_W0QQitemZ220352168078QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDigital_Cameras?hash=item220352168078&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1234|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A0|293%3A2|294%3A50

Instead of using a camera to point and shoot, you should buy a handgun and spray hot ammunition on all the beautiful things you would otherwise photograph.

Wait...you mean you are going to take out a loan just to buy a $170 camera?  (or am I missing something here) 

If thats the case, NO it is definitely not a good idea to take out a loan, especially for something so inexpensive.  Just wait until you save up a buck seventy, then buy it...


Not to mention that it definitely doesn't seem like a good deal now, being that they were only $99 at a lot of stores during christmas time, but then again, they probably won't be that cheap again until next christmas, so...

WTF are you talking about? SD and MMC are the most standard cards out there.

And I'd say to avoid Sony. Yes, their cams to take great pics. But if you ever have a problem, say something as simple as dust on the sensor, they charge you a flat fee of $211 no matter what the problem is. And their customer support is a bunch of Indians named Bob and Paul. Not to mention that their cams only use their bullshit proprietary memory cards.

Fuck Sony for all they're worth.

My guess he's getting money back from a loan from school. Like the loan was too much and the school is giving him a refund check. And a camera is totally something you need.

Looks like a good cam to me. I don't like that it only has 1 shooting mode, but then again I'm very picky when it comes to cameras.

I'd say get some kind of case. But don't get the leather one. I have the leather one and it's craptastic.

I think buying a spare battery would be more economical than a car charger.
