Playable demo of Resident Evil 5 is almost out!!!

Resident Evil 4 was and will remain in my top three best video games ever made.

Soon comes Resident Evil 5. Probably just as good (I hope). I hope they have Mercenaries II, and all that good stuff but more.

I'm looking forward to this one. A friend of a friend got his hands on the Japanese demo and played it early. He said it was beast. Did you know the series is called "Biohazard" in Japan?

Awe man. RE4 is one of the BEST. Much better than RE1-3. However, those were good classics too!

Yeah for PSN and the 360Network the demos should be available in the downloads sections.

This should be fucking great!! I might even take some mushies!!

no its the worst. its a mindless shooter with no relevant plot :shrug:

this is supposed to be survival horror. this requires no effort and it looks like 5 will be worse than that, just some negros with uzi's sprinting after you and whatnot - major bullshit imo.

ten out of a thousand, perhaps.

i finished it with all costumes, difficulty settings, ada's missions, mercenary mini-game, finished it all again with all possible weapons.

howcome, huh?

because it sucked and was super easy, like a mindless shooter :shrug:

I feel that both the early games and the later games are good in their own right.

I don't feel that it's fair to long-time fans to switch up the formula without some sort of name change reflecting the drastic design changes.

And I mourn the original games, as the playstyle presented what was essentially one of the most unique series that existed. Alas, the common stereotypical design schemes of modern third-person-shooters have sunk it's fangs into this series and given birth to more predictable and tired game designs.

There's something to be said about how the Resident Evil design itself became tired and predictable over the course of the earlier games... especially when players were crying for a better control scheme even then. However, I think that there was a happy middle ground to be found by enhancing the older design's basic structures. However, Capcom chose to do that very little from release to release until 4, and then just replaced the whole engine. :shrug: :whatever:

Now, as I said at the beginning, they're all good games in their own right. It's just that the old ones were "more classic" games, because they represented a unique niche (survival horror) nicely, and didn't really resemble any other games playstyle wise. This cannot be said about the modern changes to the series, and I think this is why so many long-time fans cannot will not accept the changes.

re4 is definately not a resident evil game in my book.
1-3 were amazing. especially part 2.
re4 is just a shooter, nothing to do with survival horror.

No way. RE1 & RE2 owned. Also Resident Evil Chronicles for Wii is fun as shit too!

RE4 is more than a shooter. Heck, all of the RE's are shooters.

Yeah once you're good enough to get all five stars on all mercenary missions then the game never stands a chance again. Did you do that?

You've got to admit. If you beat all that shit on RE4 then the addiction was there. :smile:

JacquesCousteau made some excellent points. of course RE needs to evolve, it can't forever be stuck with the formula of "zombies in a town" scenario BUT RE4 was really a kick in the head from Capcom. that was not evolution but plain shit. they dumbed it down into "collect ammo-kill everything-move to next area" formula that is great for other games, but its not RE.

nope. they are survival horror games with guns thrown into it so you would have some chance of surviving. now the only hope of a decent survival horror game is held up by the Silent Hill series.

i played through everything on RE4 because it was simple and monotonous with no effort. also the controls of RE got great with Nemesis.
