NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - January 15, 2009 -- New Jersey state police say they've made the largest seizure of the drug known as "businessman's LSD" in the state's history.

State Police Superintendent Rick Fuentes says the hallucinogenic drug, known by scientists as "dimethyltryptamine", or DMT, is becoming increasingly popular in the regional club scene.

Troopers seized about 1.4 pounds of DMT from a 33-year-old software engineer named Yusuf Samantar during a Saturday morning traffic stop on the New Jersey Turnpike after the Newark resident was seen driving erratically.

Police say the bust represents the first dealer-sized quantity of DMT seized in New Jersey.

DMT is typically sold for about $200 a gram, giving the seizure a street value of about $127,000.

Oh the media, so wrong, so many times.  DMT is most def not a drug club.  Its most def just a treasure for true psychonauts plain and simple.  There is no doing anything on DMT except being shot into everything.

I honestly don't know anyone who would buy dmt.  Anyone I talk to about it, with the limited knowledge they have of it, says that it's a horrible horrible experience.  That's not gonna stop me from trying it myself, equipped with the factual knowledge that communities such as this one have provided me, but to the vast majority of people, it's a horror drug.

Classical psychedelics such as those in the tryptamine family are pretty subjective.  DMT has showed me insight and a better understanding of myself and the universe.

AT least it wasn't a kilo, but at that amount it was still a major felony (first degree in my state).

I think DMT has been talked about a lot among ravers and ravers enjoy clubs.........not my thing but people talk and talk promotes anything, so having the news say it's like LSD just equals bad for most peoples understanding.

In a world like ours, anything that is illegal is going to be interesting to some people that prey on others for marketing......it is just simple motivation..........cheap to obtain and extract if you buy bulk and sell for a profit.......people know it's a drug that gets a lot of attention, the trips are interesting and people want to try it......not everyone freaks out, some people smoke small doses for huge affects (even a thresh hold is going to be a strong trip compared to other drugs that club kids enjoy, such as LSD or E, so DMT seems pretty neat even at a low dose to them).

The media calls any hallucinogen similar to "LSD" because most people will recall LSD than any other psychedelic because of the 60's, its journalism they have to connect with the audience:shrug:

ive had articles in the newspaper written about me, and so have a few of my friends. and there were lies written about us in all of them. cops kick in my boys door and find between 1.5 and 2 oz. and i know for a FACT he didnt have more than 2 ounces. yet the newspaper says the police find over 6 ounces.... wtf?

the cops tell the newspaper what to write. the cops are most likely lying in this situation as well. if they really found 1.4 pounds of DMT, i really think the article would be a lot longer than it is. basically all it says is some guy got pulled over and the cops found a large amount of DMT, and they dont elaborate at all. if he had that much DMT, they would go in depth a little more, dont ya think?

he probably had like an ounce (if that..) or so but the cops decided to say 1.4 pounds to make headlines and make it look like their department is doing a good job at getting "bad" people off the street.

fuck the police, and fuck the media. both of them are evil. cops are nazis, and the media is responsible for brainwashing large groups of people into believing stupid lies.
