Loph seedling questions
    #9565968 -

This may be obvious to you guys, so I figured Id get your input.

I couple of weeks ago I put about 12 loph seedlings to germinate in my pythons terrarium directly under his halogen basking lamp. Here is an example of two of the two week old seedlings that developed under these conditions:

Now, 3 days ago I noticed that my snake started to lay atop the little Jiffy greenhouse, and fearing his weight would crush the lid, I decided to move the container under four 2 foot fluorescent bulbs with a heat pad underneath to provide some generous heat.
Today I noticed the first seedlings to fully sprout under these bulbs and here is one of them:

Could this seedling not be getting enough light? The others appear far healthier, shorter and more plump. Is such a high amount of light necessary for loph seedlings to develop properly?

It looks okay to me as well, but its just not nearly as perky and plump as the others. The other seedlings popped out of the soil a rich green color, plump, and stayed rather short. The new guys are rather pale, tall and lanky. They appear healthy, just different than the others.

yeah i see where you are coming from mate, that last one is thinner and paler than the others, perhaps it just needs a couple of weeks catching up with the older ones to look as plump and green...
i don't think it is anything you need to worry about...
if you think that one is lanky and pale then you should see some of the loph seedlings that i started over the last couple of months without any artificial lights

Hope they do man. :yesnod:
In the meantime, I'm going to rig a contraption to prevent my snake from crushing the seedlings, and place them back in the terrerium

Yeh I agree, it looks fine. I have a couple of san pedro that came up late, didnt think they would come up at all, but they were a bit pale too. Just make sure you dont expose them to too much direct light, it could burn them. But you'll know if its burnt cause it'll start to turn a reddish colour, like sunburn.

Swap the light conditions for a couple weeks and see if the plump ones slow down and the shorter one catches up.
