I just moved my first rice cake to the terrarium. b+ strain. it was colonized at 80-85 degrees. now i want to cold shock it. I am wondering if i could put a ziplock bag of ice in the terrarium on the perlite, or alternately put a larger bag of ice like a freezer bag maybe, on top of the terrarium to shock the pins into being. also, how long must the cake be exposed to colder temperatures before a good pinning can be expected and cold treatment discontinued? thanks guys!!

Put the cake in a jar, fill with water, put in fridge. You can leave it in there for 12 hours but I have had better flushes leaving it in for 24 hours. No more cold shocking is needed. Give it a week or two to really get going.
