this cop came into my store the other day asking to get a key cut.  so i look at the key and i says "do not copy"  legally i'm not allowed to copy it because im not a licensed locksmith, which i told the cop.  so he flashes his badge and says "its ok im a cop"  and i said "it doesn't matter its against the law"

anyways he kept persisting til i gave in!  the fuckers think that the badge gives them the right to break the laws they're supposed to uphold! what the fuck!


here in vancouver like 3 or 4 cops have been arrested for drunk driving in the past few months,  one killed some kid. 

what the F is wrong with these guys.

A few years back I remember seeing a similar vid about a state trooper who delayed an older man and his wife for speeding. Turns out he was taking her to the hospital as she was having a heart attack. The troopers delay caused her death if I remember the results of that.

dude, you enabled them by doing what they want.

i don't want to criticize you too hard, because i know very well what the mind does when confronted by a bunch of assholes with firearms and badges. 

but this is a contributing factor to the problem.  the next time the cop goes out, he will expect to be served against the law again.  and the next time even moreso

he was driving in the emergency lane, that's a little
different than stopping to ask for help, I bet they get to
the hospital much quicker when they slam into a broken down
car coming around a blind curve, I believe there's a reason
it's illegal to drive in a stopping lane

I booted some cops out of my restaurant for carrying their
guns in, the sign said 'no firearms allowed on premises',
they pulled the same 'but I'm a cop' bullshit and I said it
doesnt matter, you're not here in an official capacity, leave
the guns in the car and you'll be served until then I have to
ask you to leave... it took a few minutes but they left

Cops dont have the right to ticket based on "there may be a crime here and im going to let the judge decide."

Its bull shit that the police act in this fashion. It is up to the cop weather a violation has occurred, the judgment of the police may not always be accurate, but at least they should be sure something is a crime before they interfere with people lives, especially in an emergency situation.

In another thread a few days ago a cop in Michigan went on the record saying he will still arrest people with marijuana even though it is now legal for some in Michigan. His problem is the procedures from the state are not in effect till april even though the law has past and initiation time has elapsed.

He says he will arrest and let the judge figure it out. Can you imagine it is ok for police in america to arrest and say "we dont know if you broke the law, but we are going to hold you, fine you, abuse you, confiscate your possessions, and treat you like a criminal until we figure out if you did something illegal!"

What have we become.

technically they do, you can be jailed in most jurisdictions
without charges for 72 hours until they figure out something
to charge you with or decide to release you and while our
judicial system id based on 'innocent until proven guilty',
in most cases you have to prove your innocence

I agree but you also have to understand that it citizens act in the same manner, they also use poor judgment a prime example, transporting drugs, they know drugs are illegal yet so many decide to carry drugs, papers, bongs, etc... in their cars to go to a friends house and of course it's then to cops fault that they were dumb enough to do it.

Ignorance of the law is neither a defense for a criminal nor should it be an enabling tool for police.

While the defacto state is as you have pointed out in some cases, the system is not intended to operate in such a way. If you are not charged with anything you are free to protest any action against your freedom by the police.

Its a fair point, but you have to agree that police ethics are almost as flawed as the lawyer's in this country.

suit for the sun going up and the sun going down, then
litigate for everything else that happens in between, if your
peanut butter sandwich is the wrong temperature it's a
violation of your rights and you should be duly compensated
