yeah, i'm the one who puts up the phish vids. if you've never seen trey play live, go out of your way to see him. he's the most talented and versatile guitar player i've ever seen. jerry garcia said it best when describing trey (and the rest of the guys in phish):"they're like four Beethovens."

derek trucks: the nephew of butch trucks(drummer of the allman brothers), and is quite possibly the reincarnation of duane allman. derek is in his late 20's now. he picked up a guitar at the age of three, and already knew how to play. check him out. he's incredible.

and yeah, mark knophler is another one of my favorites.

If writing ability and skill were to meet(which should be the standard, regardless of opinion)

1. Jimi Hendrix
2. Mike Einziger
3. Mark Tremonti

That's the order of timelessness.

Reverse it for my personal opinion.

For sure underrated. Also one of the only classic rock guitarists that used long nails/flamenco hand style on an electric guitar instead of a pick.

how could you go with jam band guitar. and not even mention jerry garcia. at least honor the one who laided down the road.

for me id go
1.Jerry Garcia
2.Steve Kimock
3.Mark Karan

trey gets an honerable mention cause he can shred.
