Taxes as a sub-contractor?
    #9221454 -

I was hired into a company that said they were going to pay me as a sub-contractor for a couple of months until they decided whether or not they would add me to their payroll.  Well, over the last couple months I've realized that being on the payroll, receiving benefits, or any other such non-sense will never happen.  So do I have to be worried about taking out my own taxes (at $9 and hour) and how do I have to go about doing that?  The most I've heard is something about filling out a 1090, but what about state taxes?

it's not worth it, that's like paying you $7/hr

I'd pretend I never worked for them if the IRS asks

you paying them... of course you may not have to if you made under a certain amount over the last year, you may actually be entitled to money back

have you had any other jobs that paid in for you this year?

I am a little worried though because the checks that I deposit are payroll checks from their company, should I maybe instead cash them and deposit them later, or just not worry about it because I'm so far under the level of pay that the IRS would worry about?

I've never not had a cash back, I've worked for 3 companies this year (I moved this year) but I've never made more than 25k a year, and will probably be way under that this year.

check the IRS website, if you made under a certain amount between all the jobs you wont have to worry about it as for not getting anything back, it's probably because you allow them to take the minimum out or have been handling your taxes wrong

Well the other companies have always taken taxes out for me, this company is not taking taxes out, and for the first time I'm confused about what I'm supposed to do.  Altogether though, I should still be making under 21-25k for the year.  I'll consult the IRS web page though to investigate.

the 1099 is basicly a statement of gross earnings, you'll file
the 1040 along with it only you'll possibly be sending them
money, they have a rate schedule and all that crap on the IRS
site so it shouldnt be hard to estimate taxes

in the future, if they try and 1099 you, demand more money, I
worked a week for a guy that wanted to pull that shit, his ad
said $15/hr, on payday he cut me a check for $10/hr and and
said he was going to 1099 me, I said some pretty rude stuff
and left...

yeah, same kind of shit here, as of meeting their other retarted employees I'm obviously the smartest of them, but unfortunately since moving from a good job in MI, to the otherside where there aren't any jobs available, I'm stuck with these fuck-heads until I can finally find something worth my time and skills.  I just wish I could get the fuck out of this state.
