making spawn from cyan mycellia on woodchips- lets talk about it.
    #9178885 -

so one of my cyan patches was found to be destroyed by...i couldn't tell. it was like two dogs had a fight and thrashed it (it was under some bushes in a dog park). so i scooped a handful or two of mycellia-covered wood chips in my sack and left. i soaked a bad of alder chips meant for use in a smoker for a few hours in water, thoroughly drained it, put the chips in two tubs, and tossed the mycellia chips on top.

this is how it looked ~day three:

probsbly hard to tell in the pics, but there were some nice ropes growing over the chips! for the next few days growth continued pretty rapidly, and i stopped looking at them daily.

fast forward to today, at ~10 days. they've definitely grown more but not as fast as before. the plan was to let them grow till they had colonized most of the surface and then shake the tubs as you would a jar of wbs you were colonizing.(well not YOU but you know :-P)

i guess i'm wondering if i should be fanning this once a day? leaving it open for a few minutes, something?

has anybody else done something like this? i tired it once before with mushroom butts on cardboard but it was depressingly slow and inefficient, especially compared to what i've seen so far. i'll let this gather a few responses and post current pics tomorrow :-D

Under his instruction, I taped drumsticks to his head and turned him into a sort of mummy, or perhaps a caterpiller in a cocoon. He remains this way for about three hours, making bizarre noises, pretending to be a new species that must learn to walk and talk and eat, etc. And he communicates with other life forms by way of the antennae on his head. Eventually we jam a tube from a waterbong into it's mouth and figure he's learned all he needs to know.

You might want to PM "Juke Adro" or "Just Me.  They may have some input on this particular strain.

Looks like what you're doing is working. I'm wondering about this process myself as my patch has been raped. I'm going to take capns advice and MOVE part of the patch elsewhere.. keep me updated on this, I am interested!

Don't shake, don't fan, cover it and leave it be though poke a few small holes in its lid, everything else looks great.

If that were mine I would bury it in a shallow trench and cover with black plastic.
