That was pretty funny. I was watching it live when it happened, kinda hard to believe.  I'm just glad the Tigers won.  I wouldn't call myself a football fan but when your raised around here you just automatically care about 'em

Anyone who says he was just defending himself is A. Delusional B. a commentator that can't make the league look bad or he'll get fired.

He wasn't defending himself he just didn't want to get his ass run over, or try to move out of the way apparently.

He moved into the play, squared up and actively pushed forward.
That's intent if I've ever seen it.

Stephen Garcia and I were good friends in elementary school, but he changed schools in seventh grade and I haven't really seen him since.
Oh, and he's obsessed with the movie Troy, thinks it's brilliant film.

Doesn't matter, the QB should've lowered his head and plowed the ref.  The fact that he let that ref do that is embarrassing.

He didn't exactly expect to have the ref square up and come after him.
He figured the guy would get out of his way.

Yeah I'm not saying the ref didn't intend to do that.  I'm saying he got to a situation where it was either hit or be hit... and his reflexes kicked in over better judgement

Kinda like punching your friend if he jumps out and tries to scare you or something, you don't really mean to punch your friend but either fight or flight is gonna kick in... in some people fight talks a little louder

Bullshit, he went up into the play, every other ref in history backs away from it.
He wasn't "just in a hit or be hit situation" he fully intended that shit.

The ref was a kentucky alumni and just the week before south carolina had beaten kentucky.

Coincidence? I think not.

Think about this now. The way college football works with the BCS and stuff, if your a conference wouldn't you want to figure out a way to get your team(s) into those rankings?

Let's say you are the SEC. You have two said teams that have the best chance to go to the national championship atm, that is Florida and Alabama.

Now if you could change a little something here, and a little something there to make their paths easier to get there, rather then each team beating themselves up and in the end the whole conference is full of 3 loss teams and so on, wouldn't you do it?

If you were the commish of the SEC, and you got some corrupt refs that are willing to let stuff slide, it is very easy to make one of those two teams trip to the SEC championship an undefeated one.

What's the thought process behind this? It's very simple. If you just let the teams go about each other's business, and let the games be played normally, what you risk is having your two flagship teams having down years. In that case, your conference gets slapped with the overrated slander and etc etc. Also, you're the SEC and you have a reputation to live up to. You've won quite a few of the last couple national champ games ala LSU and Florida. They stand a good chance of getting back there as long as some no-name team gets in there way and screws it up. You being apart of a corrupt organization known as the SEC which oversees on all this can make sure that such and such doesn't happen and at the same ensure that one of your two teams makes it to the national champ game. In that case, you get to maintain your rep + bragging rights as the best conference.

So all of a sudden, knowing you have the power to let certain stuff slide, let's see what all we can do. You can have those those big mammoths up front holding, tripping, clipping left and right and instruct your refs to not call anything. This would make things quite a bit easier no? What about some other little things?

Yesterday in the Florida vs Georgia games, TWICE a little tug of the jersey caused two touchdowns. The first was when Florida cornerback Joe Haden grabbed the Georgia WR as he was turning into an out route which allowed Haden to cut in front of the WR simultaneously pulling the wideout off his route. Result? Interception down the sideline for a TD.

What should have happened? Holding/pass interference.

Second. Third quarter, WR for florida Louis Murphy takes off on a fly route ( straight down the field trying to outrun the guy covering you ). As he gets about 15 yards down, he grabs the Cornerbacks jersey and pulls him back allowing him to accelerate past simultaneously sending the corner behind him. Result? Touchdown.

What should have happened? Pass interference on the offense.

I believe the ref tackling the QB was where they got a little bit cocky with it. LSU was a one loss team at the time, South Carolina had zero shot at going to the championship game. If South Carolina wins, it does nothing for the conference but hurt the chances of winning the BCS championship. If LSU wins, then it strengthens florida's schedule because florida had already beaten LSU and on the computer ranking a team that won against a team with 1 loss will score better then that same team that lost vs a no-name. In that case, hurting floridas score and lowering the chances of getting into the championship game.

This ref tackling the QB was completely and totally intentional from start to finish. He squared him up from the very start of the play to finish. That ref is completely out of position as he is supposed to stay between the LB's and the safety 10 yards deep at all times. He moves up to the line and sizes him up and thrusts himself into the QB.

Why shouldn't this have made bigger headlines?

1. It was on the goal line or rather close to it. South Carolina was about to score.

2. ESPN like a bunch of FUCKING RETARDS made this out to be a complete total joke. Matter of fact, instead of getting fired or suspended, nothing at all has come of this. The SEC has "reviewed and determined that nothing was wrong."
