Hydrometer gauge insight
    #9144937 -

Hello all. I just want to share some information (thats what this place is for after all, right?).

I bought a Hydrometer/thermometer combo gauge today at petsmart. At first I was discouraged, because when I went to look up again how to do the salt calibration test, I saw many post saying that gauges bought at walmart and pet stores were complete crap. Well, I went on with the test anyways.

Im looking at my hydrometer right now. its stabalized at ecactly 75%, and its been like that for four hours. WOW!. Also, i placed it in terrarium with 5 inches of moist perlite. It read 95%. I added that too because I here alot of people say their gauge only reads up to 85%.

The brand is ZOO MED. It says on the package HERMIT CRAB (then below continues with) DUAL THERMOMETER & HUMIDITY GAUGE. I picked it up for about 12 bucks.

Also the temperature gauge works just fine too. Im gunna have to go out and buy me another one for my other terrarium. This is just to show that you dont have to buy a super fancy hydrometer to get a good working one.

I hope this helps! :sunny:

Wow I saw that exact combo online and I thought it looked good - good to hear!

Now is there a little screw on the back to calibrate it?  I doubt there is..

no their is not. I ripped the package open to check at the store, and didnt see one. I figured if it was off, I would just mentally calibrate it

Now is yours the 1st or 2nd one? When reading the description, I thought the fact it said the gauge was German was good, lol..
