Exactly.  The guy made money using violence and advocating it in his songs, which led him to eventually make millions of dollars by making rap songs that 13 year old kids look up too. 

Yeah this is somebody who should really fucking respect.  I don't give a fuck if he has a lot of money, that makes him something to look up too?

yea i can't stand rap..

i can't stand how they slaughter the english language.

i can't stand there stupid followers following a drug, violence and completly ignorant message with there crooked hats and baggy ass pants. and they just swallow it hook line and sinker.

or how they made it out of the "hood" now they dont have to prove anything to anybody.  how bout getting and education and doing something postive for society?  maybe some voluteer work? (haha, yea right!)  shit i made it out of the trailer park and now i own a house. send me bazillion's of dollars while i rap about crap.

lil wayne prol had alot better child hood than i did or alot of my friends.

you guys just listen to him because everyone else does.  you should try growing a backbone and stop being a spoke in a wheel.

oh and i really don't think that song is actually acout drug use. i assume it has a deeper meaning about living the kind of life he lives now and the money and fakeness that come with the people who have become an essential part of his existence...

(ie the record execs who treat him like a god (presumably) because he is making them cash but wouldnt give him a second look if he was in a different situation asking for a dollar on the street)

like i said..all very tragic and beautiful if one stops to look (in my opinion).

I just think it's funny how seriously people take this.
Not to mention many of the points people make about him can be applied to many MANY different types of music.

I like rap. I like positive, good rap. I like the Roots, I like Jurrasic 5,  even like some semi underground artists like Blackalicious and MF Doom. I level the same criticisms to any music where it applies, we just happen to be talking about rap here. Mainstream rap, which is undoubtedly what Lil Wayne is, is simply awful, just like most mainstream rock, mainstream pop etc churned out by recording companies these days. My $.02

That's fine, I still think it's humorous how much you and many others care.
And this goes beyond Lil Wayne. For some reason people are offended by popular music. I've never understood why people get so riled up about it. If you don't like it, you don't like it, but there's really no reason to care so much.

I don't like country but I don't go around posting in threads about it, saying how dumb hicks are, how bad the music is, blah blah blah. If some farmers wanna line dance, then let 'em line dance.


Most of the music you listen to probably sucks, unless it lines up with my tastes, then it's probably good.

i just really want them to be more well versed in what they are arguing about, or at the very very least not make shit up and pretend to be arguing a valid fucking point..

just cause my government argues in the style "if u can't prove our lies our point is made valid" does not mean i have to. and i really try not to.

why bring emotion and bullshit to a debate? let's talk about lil wayne technically, or even artistically, but let's not pull shit out our asses, here.

then again that's me trying to get what i want out of forum users, and make them act how i want, and as u can see, they'd rather just go away and leave the thread alone after i make them look really silly over and over..

Yea but mainstream rap nowadays is a fucking slap in the face to what it use to be. That's why some hardcore rap fans are so passionate about speaking out against these played out bitches like little wayne.

I have no qualms with the notion of "popular music". For example, the Beatles were VERY popular and pretty mainstream in their time, and I like them a lot. My problem is the specific quality of stuff being churned out for the mass markets right now which have little or nothing to do with artistic integrity, experimentation etc etc etc. The whole vibe, from the lyrics to the personna of the performers etc is downright nasty. Not trying to be a dick or rip on anyone's taste, I just cant stand being "marketed" to, and I feel like I am being sold something whenever I hear this kind of music...
So I personally don't inherently dislike, rap or popular music in any form. I hate the majority of the specific music that is being marketed to the masses now and it bothers me so much because it is sending out such shockwaves of stupidity and consumerism throughout my generation....
