Now it is just a gossip magazine, akin to The Enquirer.

What happened to the music part of MTV???

I just use to watch it for the videos. I was never interested in any of their shows. Now I watch VH1 Classic or VH1 Soul

I imagine MTVU is similar to what MTV used to be like. Its always has music videos on, no crappy Real World or w/e crappy programming MTV has.

But I don't know how widely available it is, all the universities I've been at get it. I dunno beyond that.

When MTV started, waaay back in the 80's, it was the shit.

There were no such thing as music videos before MTV. So it did start a new form of music entertainment.

Now it is just a steaming pile of SHIT that has nothing to do with music.

I'll agree with you nightowl, I remember when MTV came out. Used to be good.

Remember those fucking weird commercials they had? Like where the dude would blow his nose and there was an MTV logo mixed in with the snot on the handkerchief?

They realized the retarded segment of society is more willing to part with their money and more willing to sit and watch hours of television each week. So that's who they cater too now.

What really annoys me is that there was a last refuge of cool music after MTV became a corrupt soul fucking entity called MTVX that just played really bad ass rock videos all day (I literally found so many new bands I liked watching it) However the filthy evil faggots (and by faggot I mean those as fighting words, not as a slur on the gay community which I have absolutely no problem with) at MTV got rid of it to bring it MTV Hot which is another fucking rap channel (commercial rap has destroyed the music industry and continues to devalue the intellectual levels of the American youth) What they did is they got the ratings high on an obscure channel and then switched it to a shittier format to make more money.

...The only thing is MTV already had three fucking rap channels when they converted MTVX into another rap channel.

It's like they systematically tried to kill off cool music. And even though there were protests, angry letters, and an online petition with over 100,000 signatures (Keep in mind this was a small channel in the 400s here that barely anyone had and it still got this outpouring of support) MTV turned a blind eye to this huge community of people who were offended being fed the same tired fucking shit and horrid rap music from untalented retards. And don't get me wrong, I really like intelligent rap and I don't think there's a more pure art than rap. However, the stuff they peddle as music is mind killing garbage.

Fuck MTV and I hope someone bombs their offices. I've been boycotting since 2001 when they pulled this shit with MTVX. MTV is a fucking cancer in society that needs to be ripped out with our bare hands.
