Calc I is one of the funnest math classes because there are so many new concepts in that class.

haha, probably not... though next semester I will have a lot less intense of a semester.  Im sure I will be giving you help here and there.

Your gonna be taking brief calc. right?  That class isnt as cool, imo, because they muddle up the elegance of pure calculus with application type problems.

The other day my friends and I were reminiscing about the days when you could do like 20 problems in a night.  Now I get a set of 10 due in two weeks and freak out.

Im just doing my best to re-learn and re-enforce the concepts in MAT 117 and giving it an honest attempt. It might not be that bad for me, I am a math/ science type

Brief calc has alot less (mabye none) trigonometry in it, so that might be good.  But its filled with word problems.  :nerd:

Im more of a word problem person. Definitely better when I can get a real life application of what needs to be solved. I will stay optimistic for the time

Yea, I heard Abstract Algebra is hard from some math friends of mine.

Im not taking any math classes this semester, for the first time ever!  Just four 400-level physics classes (Quantum III, Classical E&M III, Statistical Mechanics, Biological Physics).

Nice, man.  I'd be interested in taking some quantum mechanics classes, but I absolutely loathe the applied mechanics/E&M crap that you (presumably) have to wade through before attempting that high level of physics.

Beginning quantum physics classes dont actually require much E&M or mechanics.  The pre-reqs are mostly mathematics.  If you know how to solve an elementary PDE, and can take the eigenvalue of a matrix your probably good for Quantum I.  Some things you just dont learn in any math class and pick it up in quantum.  Like 'bra-ket' notation, which is real crazy when you first see it.

Its amazingly interesting stuff though.  Hopefully I can make a profession out of it.  :thumbup:

Yea?  It is cool.  Mathematicians scoff at it sometimes because its the 'easy' way out.  I think there are a bit of notional things that are different in physics than in math.

How about the levi-civita symbol w/einstein summation notation (now Im showing off :grin:)?  It makes vector calculus much easier to compute.

There isnt even any operator symbols.  When you get pages of it going, it looks like an alien language.
