bass guitars

I want to learn to play bass. I want an acoustic one but that is impractical. What are some good cheap basses?

I've been playing bass for about three years.  Acoustics aren't really impractical, but it depends on what you want to do.  If you're just starting, get a cheap little Squier (Fender's low budget version) or something like that.  Then, after a year or so if you're comfortable playing and want to keep up with it, look at upgrading to something with an active electronics system.  Good luck.

Fuck that cheap shit. I mean you could get a used Ibane or whatever...OR...
You could get a nice BeaverCreek acoustic bass guitar. A friend of mine plays one of these and it's really nice. I've played guitar for almost 9 years now I think... So I can rip it up on both, and IMHO, not being an expert or anything, it's an awesome guitar.
And it was well worth the $ he paid. About $600 dollars.

You can get a cheap electric bass, but them you need an amp. And you'll prpbably want a peddle, go with a multi-peddle to be cheap when it comes to that part of things.
And there are some nice ones with decent effects for reasonable prices.

My first two guitars we're $50* each. Then i bought a really nice acoustic for just over $200. It was USED!, and sounded better then a whole rack of new guitars.
No spice!

You don't have to spend a lot.

*One was stolen I'm pretty sure, :frown: it wasn't my fault, and it's a long story. Well not really, but it's long enough that it barely touches me!
I would NEVER steal such a thing. Ever.

I'll sell you my Fender Mexican Jazz bass, and my 25 watt Ibanez bass amp for 200ish.  Hardly used.  I had the same thought as you, but gave up quickly.  I'll throw in the strap, bag, cord and electric tuner.

really only viable if you happen to live near me.
