If a little water gets in the dry verm layer?
    #896948 - 09/21/02 05:06 AM (22 years, 4 months ago)

It appears some water got thru even though I used only an inch of water
the foils were lifted halfway but not completely out. the intense heat also caused the water inside the substrate to boil, thus rising to the top. will they get contamed now? the upper verm is moist but not wet and no flour got in it. all 4 lids are still on as I type and am waiting for the jars to cool.

has any of you experenced this? even when you have the luxury of lidded cans, the water inside the substrate boils and pushes upwards towards the underside of the lid!

If there was water inside the substrate "extra water" as you called it, your measurements were wrong. There is never standing water. The substrate "Vermiculite/brown rice flour" or whatever you use, should absorb all the water. What recipe for lucid dreams did you use?

it did absorb all the water, but when you boil water it becomes steam and rises upwards towards the top

Like he said ther should have been no standing water in the substrate mixture. If you have some, you fucked it up. If you did everything properly some of the moisture inside the jars may have been converted to steam, but very little pressure if any would have been created . Mostly is should have condensed on foil lid and eventually run back down the side.
