On DMT... have you seen the machine elves?

So when you've played around with DMT, have you seen the proverbial machine elf that is supposed to capture the essence of the dimethyltryptamine experience?  And if so, did you only experience them after you read other accounts of machine elves (such as McKenna or trip reports from Erowid), or was your experience self-generated and spontaneous?

Polls need STAL for that reason.  Also, I'm not sure what to make of the phrase "similar entities"... they were entities, but they weren't elf-like, and I still don't understand what McKenna meant by the "machine" part of "machine elves".  So I've seen entities, but I wouldn't call them similar necessarily

I thought machine elves was just a name that he gave for entities that are machine like in nature & transform endlessly, but not actually looking like elves (little curly boots & pointy hats)

It makes me want to not try DMT, along with the fact that terrence died of an excrutiating brain tumour porbably caused by the amount of varying psychedelics he consumed.

Cum hoc (correlation doesn't imply causation) coupled with an extreme case of Biased Sample (one is hardly an adequate sample size)

Besides, if we're going by anecdotal evidence, Alexander Shulgin shows it's definitely possible to live to 83 and still be healthy while doing massive amounts of diverse research chems.

this is flawed thinking...

If psychedelics contribute at all the brain tumors( which I am reluctant to agree with, being a medical student and never having encounter any such information in my study of neurology), I can tell you that you aught to be more worried about other psychotropics than DMT, being that is naturally occurs in your brain and is released during REM sleep every night.

I Think there is a direct correlation between:
The amount of external stimuli being experienced during breakthrough, to the amount of Elfs you see/feel.

I'm usually greeted by something, when I break threw. It is like I wake up on the ground and all these things crowded over me, I get the feeling of being welcomed, I cant really make out any faces but they all have these conical hat type shapes at the top, like the hat rayden wears from mortal combat;
