  That's an expression i, and many i know use.. 

"Straight power punches"=  They were attempting to knock each other the fuck out by going in with extreme force.

Still and all i would have enjoyed seeing them both send each other down, and the look on Dana White's face when he had to decide what the fuck would have happened next.
