So Spore kind of sucks

I don't really think its all that great.
The graphics are not impressive, and their concept of evolution is skewed beyond belief.
I thought it would be somewhat realistic, not you find bones and get a new type of foot, or kill a creature and get a new type of spike.
On Amazon, the average rating is only about 1.5 stars.
Out of about 540 ratings, over 480 people give it one star.
I can't believe I waited years for this shit.

This states what evolution is about in the game pretty well...

It was kind of fun. It is VERY short for such an open ended game.

It's kinda weird but the best part is the space travel part. I am gonna play till I can get in the center of the universe.

I'm thoroughly confused as to why critics are saying the game may be too complex for non-hardcore gamers.
This game was so simple an 8 year old could master it in the first day of playing.
The game itself is so short I don't think it even takes a day to beat it (I had to split it into 2 days of playing because of class).

I think you're right.
And I don't think even casual gamers want something this simplified.  Making the first stage as simple as it was seemed like a good idea, while people get a hold on the game.
But I can't imagine this game holding even the casual gamers' interest after the first few days of playing, as it feels like you're playing something intentionally designed for 3rd graders.

This is so hilarious! I had no idea all this was going on. I downloaded Spore last week and thought it sucked, but I thought it was what everyone wanted. I can't believe it! Will Wright's career is ruined!

The amazon reviews are being skewed by an anti-DRM campaign aimed at making it sell poorly. Basically, a bunch of hacker-types organize and post bad ratings so the game doesn't sell. I read about this morning, but if the game sucks, it sucks. :shrug:

Just don't trust any online reviews quite yet, as they are probably part of that campaign.
