Lysol

I just thought I'd submit a post telling everyone how great Lysol is. I was having major mold and bacteria contmination problems, so I started spraying my casing with Lysol. It is now contaminate free. Plus, I soaked a piece of mycelium in Lysol and it wasn't harmed. The only thing to do now is wait and see if my mushrooms have turned poisonous.

I always thought that Lysol would kill Mycelium...

Guess thats why theirs diferent killers made for bacteria and fungus...... So Lysol contains NO Fungicide? Ill have to read the bottle some day..

Hmmmm, I'm not completely positive, but I don't think that is the greatest idea, after all if you sprayed lysol on your casing, the mushroom would absorb it along with the water it uses to grow. In reading my can of lysol it states:

"Do not spray in eyes, on skin or on clothing."

I think if its not cool to spray on your skin, its pretty much not cool to ingest. All I know is that I wouldn't like opening my mouth and spraying lysol down my throat, which you are indirectly doing.

We use it as mouth wash around these parts.  Just kidding, actually, in small amounts it is probably just fine, I wouldnt spray your mushies more than a couple of times with it because it will probabaly concentrate in the shroom and make it a little more toxic and effect the flavor.  Be careful. :tongue:

Lysol does kill mold, so it must have some kind of "fungicyde" in it.  I'm done spraying too, I just needed to keep the casing clean until the mycelium got a nice hold on it.  Hopefully I won't die of Lysol poisoning when I trip :blush:

I ate a bunch of lysol one time because of a dare and that stuff tasted like DANK. (haha you know what I mean)

It's not like lysol kills you if you eat it because it didn't kill me and I ate it and I'm in the best shape of my life...mentally and physically. I run 3 times a week and I exercise my brain all the time (too advanced to get into detail)
