Simple Decks
    #8840061 -

Im looking into getting a skateboard soon, havent since highschool. Recently Ive been fed up with how much precious time I burn walking to the gym, girlfriends place, possible new job place, etc. but I dont want to spend too much cash (I dont want a piece of crap either though but whatever).

Atm Im looking at this deck: http://www.skatewarehouse.com/descpageDKSKATEWARE-SWSDDK.html which is $30 (and as simple as it gets me thinks). Next Id need some decent trucks.
And finally Im gonna get the biggest wheels I can find! :headbanger:
Think longboard wheels, or pick-up truck wheels. Seriously, the biggest I can find. Probably will need some .5" risers...

I have no idea about where to find these wheels though. All the stores here have those tiny wheels that most people use, and they dont sell longboard wheels seperately... Where the hell do I have to go?? And will online be cheaper?
And when I buy the wheels, will they come with bearings or will I also have to buy that....?

So what else do I need to complete this board?
So far Im looking at: deck ($30), trucks, wheels, riser ($2-$4), griptape ($5). What am I forgetting...

And what size trucks should I be looking at? Im just looking for something regular.
Which trucks are decent and cheap?
(I found some Cargos for $19 but the sizing doesnt seem to match with the board: http://www.warehouseskateboards.com/products.asp?item=1TCARBLANK60000&class=1T&brand=CAR) and some Speed Demons for $17: http://www.skatewarehouse.com/descpage-SDRTTR.html
Royals for $17: http://www.skatewarehouse.com/descpageCSHIRT-RYR4TR.html )

So far Ive been looking on:

I want them really big wheels because Im just gonna be cruisin, Im not gonnabe doing tricks or anything.
And I hate when the wheels get stuck in some little crack in the road and send you flying on your face... I think bigger wheels will make it more all-terrain-ish.

try to get wheels that come on a sector9 skateboard. I put some of those on an old street deck, and that thing rides very smooth

i buy the 10 packs from

blankdecks.com

ive skated for like 10 years, so take my word for it when i say they are just as good as any other deck

ur also gonna need bearings for your wheels, and hardware that will probably come with the trucks

risers dont do anything

as far as brands go, ive had em all and the generic stuff is the same for the most part

if i were you id get a mini-logo blank deck (supposedly the best blank decks), destructo trucks, sector 9 wheels, some jesup griptape,  and reds bearings.

edit: i'd get the risers so you dont get wheel bite.  also, try to get about an 8" board because of how big your setup is.

for cruising I would go with a longboard instead of a standard deck, especially with big wheels, on turns, with standard trucks and big wheels, you will have problems with the wheels biting on the bottom of the deck.

peace

Razor3lade: I was hoping that bearings would come with the wheels... Guess not

homesqueeze: Yea Im looking for Sector9 type wheels, but all sector9 stuff here is only sold as a whole deck, I cant find the wheels on their own.

anyone420: Damn! Nice site man, everything there looks pretty damn cheap. Hows the quality? And why do you buy 10 packs? Do you keep breaking your boards or are you selling them? (I see a lucrative business in the making)

publicenemy1: Yea Im still not sure whether to go with another deck or with one of the $17 decks from that other site... Im not going to be doing anything exciting with my board, but I do want it to last.
And probably a dumb question but, if I get an 8 board will it be hard to find trucks that will fit? The mini-logo is 7.6 and the other blank is anything between 7.6 and 8.2.

supra: Yea but I dont like longboards. Too bulky and bouncy, too big in general. I like my regular mini decks

PS: I still cant find a good place to buy wheels, Ive found cheap places for decks and trucks, but no wheels in the sizes that Im looking for...

PPS:
What do you guys think between these:
Blank Trucks    $8    http://www.blankdecks.com/trucks/blank_trucks.htm
Venture Trucks  $13    http://www.blankdecks.com/trucks/venture_trucks.htm
Destructo Trucks $14    http://www.blankdecks.com/trucks/destructo_trucks.htm

i know there's different width trucks, shouldn't be that hard to find one compatible with your board.  even if you don't find the exact width, get as close as possible and the risers should take care of the rest.

ive used destructo trucks before, seem to be good, maybe its worth the risk to see if the blank trucks are worth it, like you said, a lucrative business...only one way to tell for sure if they are any good.

peace

i would personally go with destructo, but ventures are good too... it's just a buck difference.
