Tropical Storm Fay [Florida]
    #8796754 -

Does anyone have any input on how long I should wait after Fay passes over to go hunting? I was thinking Thursday, today is Tuesday, and that would give it a good amount of time to soak into those patties. Anyone have anything to say?

First pins can be expected to pop up, ah..I'd say some 24hrs-36hrs after the wetness begins, so pretty much the next day or the day after. Just go out there, observe and report back

But they should start popping up pretty soon in any case.

Fay has stalled over Florida with the eye over Brevard county. If it holds this pattern then it is expected to be off florida soil by late thurs-early fri, id go on the weekend provided we get some sun afterwards. All water and no sun means no mushies most of the time.

I'd give it a few days.  My experience with an assload of rain is that if you go within a day or two of the rain, you'll see there are a BUNCH of pinners EVERYWHERE, I mean on like EVERY piece of shit mushrooms could possibly be growing on.  But they're not but pins.  There's still some shrooms to pick, but they're usually just waterlogged. Go a few days later, and all those shrooms will be ready to go

shroomgatherer and I are going Friday evening, though Saturday morning sounds like it might be more profitable, I should mention that to him...

Yeah, I think I'll be going Friday night. I thought it would be a little more sunny today. But this storm is just hanging around, so I need a really bright and shiny day, then the day afterwards, I am going.

So this fucking storm is not moving... Has anyone changed their plans? I am probably going to go hunting Saturday night, instead of my planned Friday night. Anyone else make changes?

It will be all good either way. Wet feet have never killed anyone
I'm glad to see this thread is up.  TS Fay is crazier than a crazy Beeeotch.  My hometown of Palm Bay and Melbourne have gotten 6 months of rain in 1 day. It has been raining almost non-stop for 3 days where I'm at.  I am hoping the sun will bust through for a little bit before we go hunting.
"dishonest" to take advantage of the rain Beege?  C'mon dude, the rain is part of the cycle of life and one must take every possible advantage in life or they will end up with no life :smirk:  Profitable to me means more mushrooms than normal for each gallon of gas spent.  Would you rather burn 10 gallons of gas and get 2 oz's fresh or burn 10 gallons of gas and get 10 lbs fresh?  That's the way I see profitable.
peace ya'll:mushroom2:

True, but having no sunshine for 3 days, means they won't be at full bloom. At least from what I understand.

I am in East Orange county, and it has rained harder today, than any previous day so far.

That would be great, which is the reason I want to wait for at least 12 hours of sunshine before going hunting.

He wasn't asking about taking advantage of the rain, he was saying that, by selling them, is that being dishonest. He doesn't like to sell the shrooms, because the shrooms could turn their back on him, and he would not find shit for weeks. I believe this is the reason I have yet to find any. Because everytime I go out there, I have the intention of finding enough to sell, when maybe, just maybe if my intentions were to only get as much as I need, maybe I will find some.

I hear you on the profitable, which is another reason I will wait.

I went out Wed night to no avail. but that was most liely due to the lack of sun. Seminole Countys getting hit faily hard as well. We got almost 6 in just last night. nothing compared to brevards 22-26 in tho. thats just insane.

But I was not talking about selling them.  I totally understand what you mean though!

Peace and good luck hunting:thumbup::mushroom2:
