Unidentified need some help.

I found this in my neibors well taken care of lawn. when i saw them 4 days ago, i thought they might grow up. so let them sit there. i came back today and there the exact same size. i thought he killed them all but there just small.

The cap


the whole thing, i noticed the stem was Pure white at the top. going red then black at the bottem. crazy stuff. there is more i can get quanity pics if needed i just got one so i could save me some trouble.

Did it grow on pieces of wood or directly in the lawn?

I?m pretty sure it?s an Marasmius species.

If it was on wood, it might be Marasmius rotula, but I?m not sure by any means.

ive never seen him put wood chips in his front yard. he uses some for under his trees but this one was not near them.

it might be a mycena but i dunno.
certainly nothing worth eating tho.
generally you want robust meaty mushrooms to eat, not spindly stringy midgits

heh thats funny you say that.  i just dont post much on forums i read alot though.  i like to know my mushrooms By the way.  and these are to small to taste i bet.  so i wouldnt eat these. they are 1/30 of a dime.  so tahts just a example.  i find alot of shaggy main here in UTAH.  with stampede if you have heard of him.  it might rain tonight so we will go huntin in the next few days.  I just wanna know what these are. heh. just so i know :smile:

Nice, detailed photos.

I think you've found Marasmius graminum which is actually very common but almost always overlooked. It grows in groups on dead grass blades.
