Speed Walking Olympic event

My friend said he saw this on TV the other night.
Olympic speed walking.
Apparently, you have to have, at all times, either one foot on the ground or both.
If you're caught skipping or jogging, you get a flag, and if you're caught again you get disqualified.
They have people misting them down every quarter mile or so to keep cool.
One of the Olympians stepped on an empty water bottle and tore a hamstring, taking him out of the competition.

And they're getting rid of baseball because its 'too American'.

Olympic speed walking?  You have to be kidding me.


Edit- the entire time he was describing it to me, I was just picturing a bunch of people all speed walking like they really had to take a shit.  Backs rigid, walking as speedy as possible.

I never heard of it either, but i dont keep up with the current olympic events..I am usually busy dealing with other issues.
But it is different I'd say.

I don't understand why paintballing isn't an olympic event, it is actually a pretty cool sport to watch.
