rolled v.s unrolled

here are a couple of pics of brf cakes 1 week into fc.

This cake was in 1/2 pint jar for over two months of slow but steady growth. Just to show it's details, I did not roll it after my 20 hour dunk. Cambodian

This is a shot of the side of the same cake.

This cake is ecudorian as well, incubated same amount of time, birthed same day, rolled in dry verm after 20 hour cold dunk. Both cakes looked the same before the cold dunk and roll.

My fc conditions for both cakes.

Question: Does the non-rolled cake look not fully colonized? I left it not rolled to show what's going on under the dry verm layer. What do you think?

Edit: both cakes are ecudorian, not cambodian
