cambodian questions

hello,
I am currently 1 week and 5 days into my first mushroom grow. The strain i am using is Cambodian cubensis. I have my grow set-up in my attic, and i have a couple of questions. If anyone feels inclined to respond with some constructive advice it would be greatly appreciated
1. I inoculated my spores almost two weeks ago, but my jars are only partially colonized. I was hoping to be further along at this point. I think my slow colonization might be a result of me opening up my rubber maid container everyday for the first five days, so i could check the jars and check the temp. I have since taken the thermometer and faced it towards the outside of the container, so i don't have to open it. Another contributing factor might be the varying temperatures in the attic. It gets pretty cold at night, and pretty warm in the day time, and i am having trouble maintaining optimal conditions with my current set-up, which consists of a large rubber made bin filled with water and a fish tank heater, and another rubber made container (where I keep the jars) partially submerged in the water. I have seen the temps go from 68 degrees in the morning to almost 100 degrees in the day. Any tips on how to better maintain temperatures? (keep in mind i am kind of on a pretty tight budget, so don't suggest anything too expensive)
2. I read that Cambodians are a heat loving mushroom, and colonize at about 85 degrees, and fruit well at about 90-95 degrees. Is this true? If so, can i still dunk my cakes before the first flush? or will the cold hurt them more than help them? If you read the previous question then you know that my grow room temps have gotten up to about 98 degrees, and i would think by the time i birth my cakes, they will need some water.
3. After you dunk your cakes, why do you you roll them in vermiculite?
4. And are you supposed to dunk you cakes after each flush?
Much thanks to anyone who can offer some good advice.

ok for one you need a better gorw room. getitng them down to 60 is fine at night though it will really slow or stop conizing over night and will be slow to start back up that day. also above 90 ish growth witll stop and you are close to killing it. 106 i think is thermal death. anytime you are outside optimal you colonization is just slower but you are borderline killing your jars. i would suggest getting the mout of there into your house. even if you don't incubate them and just put them in the back of your closet. you house is insulated and shoud have a much more steady temperature. evn if is not optimal you still will be better off.
dunk after birth to gain moisture. then roll in verm and mist that down till its wet. also double end case this means resting your cakes on somewet verm in say a flower pot tray thing. put another little pile of wet verm on the top of the cake. all this helps give the naked cake water. if you dunk roll and double end cause you should be fine not dunking after each flush. look into crumbling and casing though.
now using that grow room for fruiting well im not sure if they will fruit at such a temperature. i know tehy fruit up into the 80's but the high 90's i htin kis really pushing it. i don't evne know if they would pin i supose you might as well try. probably have to move the FC into the house though. better temps.

hmmm....I think I will have to move them into the house, but draing that water from a tub in the attic is going to a pain in the a$$. But here is a question for you, is there any possible way to rehydrate cakes while still in their jars? maybe take a sterile needle and some water that has boiled and let cool, and inject it into the cakes? because i can see new growth every day, but with these crazy temps, i am just afraid that they will dry out.

Time for the advice you didn't want to hear....
Growing in your attic leads me to believe that you either live with your parents or someone else who doesn't know you grow. Bad idea. Wait until you live alone or with someone who would be OK with you doing it.
That's my constructive advice.

yes its always nice to reward your parents who fed and clothed you up untill now or recently by sending them to pound em in the ass fedral jail to think about how horible you are for 15 years. i shit you not its really easy to get busted. especially when you are young because you can't keep a secret.
also don't hydrate your cakes unstill after they are done colonizing.
