Pro-Wrestling, not a sport, but anyone watch it?

Wondered if anyone watches this in here, I know its not a real sport per se, and its scripted, but then again its pretty rough too.

Thoughts?

I give the guys credit for doing what they're doing but it's way too dramatic and out there now compared to 15+ years ago.

I remember about the time I stopped watching Pro Wrestling when I was younger, they had "Val Veenis" who was supposed to be a porn star on the side or something having his dick chopped off by some Japanese Yakuza or something :lol:

What the fuck's that got to do with wrestling?!

And now the guys are just horrible actors.  At least back in the day if you couldn't speak or act they wouldn't give you the damn microphone for 10 minutes.

yeah, the val venis dick chopping thing was featured on Wrestlecrap.

now they give the mic to people, in hopes they CAN at least learn to cut a good promo. sometimes they just push crappy people who aren't entertaining.

For wrestling to succeed again Vince needs change the product. The real ECW style wrestling would sell, but Vince is a dumbass.

er, yes, actors, but it is physically demanding, and very painful in a lot of regards.

plus the matches go longer often times, see my mma thread...

seems like people forget that although it is scripted, its still rough, even thoug the intent is to entertain, not hurt someeone.

Me calling them actors wasn't a derogatory term, simply an attempt at a factual statement.  Of course I know it's physically demanding and at times horribly dangerous, anywhere from the Road Warriors falling off the entry thing to Owen Hart taking a nose dive from the ceiling or every little injury in the ring that shit is going to happen. 

It's the fact that the outcome is already arranged (and horribly, horribly predictable) and the athletes are such bad character actors that makes me group them in a different category than athletes in a real combat event.


Plus if you want to get technical, Kurt Angle is medically unfit to do real wrestling, much less any other true combat event at this point due to the vertebrae he had fused on his neck when he broke his neck in the Olympic trials back in 2000 or whatever, yet they still let him compete in professional wrestling on a weekly basis.

i think kurt angle had some mental health issues or something.

olympics is rough. Amateur wrestling is very rough. He takes a risk,

but yes, they do act, and the outcome being predictable always sucks, but when things are good, it isnt predictable.

ia always hate week after week "screw-job" endings with run in in the main event, i think they keep that at a minumum now.

really, yes, the outcome is pre-determined, theres no doubt on that, but people who watch wrestling know its "fake", but its rough.

sort of a soap opera of violence so to speak
