I was thinking basketball, since as far as international circuits go, FIBA seems to come in second after FIFA.

Well, it's the most popular sport in the states, that's for sure.

Soccer is the most popular with over the half of the world's population watching it. (3.3 Billion). Cricket is the next. Everyone would be probably surprised. But, about half of the world's population lives in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Moreover Cricket is the national sport of England. Australia's most popular sport is cricket, even new zeland. Total cricket fans are 3 to 3.3 BILLION. Hockey is also very popular. Then comes Volleyball, Tennis. American sports like baseball and basketball are not played anywhere in India, China, Pakistan, so they do not have a lot of fans.

Anyone planning on attending any of the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup? Six of the games in the second stage are being played in Grenada which is like a second home so I'll probably catch at least those but hopefully I'll island hop and see a few more. The west indian schedule is awesome and island hoping is really fun. Cricket is not that bad of a game either.

I dont understand cricket. Anthony Bourdain tried to explain it to me one night on TV, but I think he must have made it sound as complicated as possible, because I didnt understand a lick of it.

All I know is they have a rubber ball, a flat bat, funny masks, and something about a wicket.

Or maybe thats croquet.

Old Trafford can hold up to 72,000.

I think I'm gonna buy tickets for Englands match against Greece there next month.

Greece are the European champions, so it should be good.

The MCG (melbourne Cricket Ground) holds around one hundred thousand people, it's packed to capacity every year for the boxing day test match and comes close to reaching capacity for many other big cricket matches.
