New member says hi! (If you're from Israel please read)

Hello everyone,

SiKo here, registered yesterday and already overwhelmed by all the info here!

I've just moved to Israel (originaly from the Netherlands) and I wish to grow mushrooms (again). Did it in Holland before and it was a great success, so hope to have nice yields here as well.

Currently I'm looking for growers in Israel that would like to help me getting started.

I'm looking for spores/mycellium.
Shops to buy vermiculite etc.
Info on possibility of growing outside species (grew azures in A'dam).
Any further info that help me to success.

Nice to be here, hope I can contribute as well (if anyone's interested I can post my grow log here).

My only advice to you right now, is never mention Israel in the politics forum.  Aside from that, welcome to the Shroomery :peace:

Do you know yet what kind of actives grow naturally in your area?

I used to have a teacher, here in America that moved to Israel. I was sad, she was the greatest teacher ever!

Ok, thanks for the advice ... No intention to get political ... But the fact is I live here and need local help ... any suggestions?

About local actives ... not found a good info source yet. So if you've got any pointers, plz be my guest!

Why is that?  The political discussion forum has very strict rules against flaming, baiting, and trolling.  Mentioning Israel will spawn a large debate, but people that attack the poster rather than the topic will find themselves banned from the forum.

i got your pm siko but i can't decrypt it unfortunatly... so i can't really read it :shrug:
welcome to Israel...
finely there's a fellow shroomerite in isreal but i'm leaving for Spain in about a month :smirk:

i wish i could help you but i've never been able to find much info on locally growing active mushrooms.
as for spore sources, just send the FSRE an envelope and you'll get some spores soon enough (although i think they're out for a summer vacation ATM so check out the website on my signature)
that'd be your best bet (unless you'd like to spend money and actually pay for spores... that'd be a waste of money though IMHO)

I learned quite a bit from the many Israelis and Jewish in Miami and Hollywood, FL USA I have had as friends.

cool...
i love listening to americans trying to pronounce the hebrew phonetics, cracks me up all the time.
although i have to admit that most Israelis have equally terrible accents in English which of course is also very entertaining :grin:

Simisu, I'll write you a unencrypoted pm ... just was informing where to buy vermiculite and stuff. I know about fsre, actually I've met the guy behind it ... they also have a forum and we did some buying activity and you can find my first grow log there. Bummer indeed they are on vacation, was hoping someone local would have some spores for me... I'll send Yefet2000 a message as well, see where we get.

Why to trade Holland for Israel? Well if you meet your love and she is from Israel and you want to see if live is good there as well together, why not? Indeed it's way sunnier and in the north live is actually pretty good. Just need to find mount Sinai (the desert I've found and enjoyed!

Say man, did you check the legality and potential laws you may be breaking by growing and doing mushrooms in Israel? I don't mean to be bringing paranoia or say something negative, however you went from a really chill place in the Netherlands to a place that seems like it would be really intense law wise on drugs. Just wanted to mention this to you so one of our people don't get fucked with and maybe jailed for doing mushrooms.

I don't attract this kind of nonsense (I mean police freaking out on a guy with a green hobby).

Ofcourse none of my neighbours or friends know about it (until I present them a little gift hopefully one day), just the rest of the world via this forum ;-) ....

With a lot of other stuff at hand the police is not gonna chase potential growers ... I hope ... well, thanks again... not gonna mind it much, just stay low profile ..
