shoulda just let him stay in jail. that way he could either rot or reflect and use his time constuctivly. I know id rather be put to execution than jail for life, a lot easier to go through IMO.

Yep. I agree. Giving murders and rapists the death penalty is giving them the easy way out. Let them serve a good 30-40 years, that'll teach em'.

Whats the purpose of 'teachin em' though?  Just want to make their life miserable for some sort of vengeance?

Best to just remove them from existence, try to forget they ever lived and move on I think.

I say put em in the chain gang.  It has the added benefits of being a penance and paying for the penance itself, at least in part.  None of this license plate shit either.  Make em learn an entire, tough, profession.  Just like all the slave work all the average joes have to do to survive.  Sometimes I find myself wishing I could go to prison -_-

Personally I disagree with that, but to each their own.

Death penalty is essentially an eye for an eye. They took a potentially productive member of society's life and in turn they are killed.

So as i see it..

Murderer is gone..but they wern't helping anyone.
And a productive member of society is gone.

Society: -1

The wrong doer should have to fill the shoes for society of the person they took through one way or another. Make 'em work their asses off doing productive yet menial work all day long in jail, every day, for the rest of their lives.

Edit: Of course that's just my opinion!

I see death penalty as a vengeance act.  Keeping them in prison removes them from our existence and at least leaves them with their life.  Death penalty is definitely the easy way out. dont do the crime if you cant do the time.

I think you are wrong on a few different points. If it were an "eye for an eye", we would have been raped by 5 people, then beaten and strangled to death. He was put down in a humane way.

I think the math you meant to do was:
Productive Citizen = +1
Murdering Rapist  = -1

Now take away the productive citizen and balance society back to zero.

I say in situations where the death penalty is the sentence, do an eye for an eye to the "T" - he raped and strangled these girls... have him raped and strangled. That way he experiences first hand what he put those girls thorugh. Not "Ok... we're going to sterilize the needle, inject you, and you're going to go to sleep." - fuck that. He put those 2 girls through hell, he should at least experience the same.
