Compost is rich in beneficial microbial activity. Although compost purchased from the store usually isn't that hot. Regardless sterilization is a nono when it comes to compost, you should pastuerize it in a steam bath between 160-170F... I'm sure The Learner will have some comments to throw in, he's worked with compost quiet a bit.

You are correct Ripper, i've been afk for a bit but basically Been real busy, and afk for a long time... yes you want to not sterilize dung, dung mushrooms such as our cubies have symbiotic relationships with a lot of bacteria and virus' in that the metabolic exudes of said organisms have been shown to stimulate pinning and/or mycelial growth rates; something wood lovers are lacking in...
