What do you all think about revolution?

I saw this video earlier, and I started thinking about revolution. I mean really. I wonder what revolution means to the average person. Because I can't seem to separate the word from images of the streets of Paris running red with blood, and other such violent messiness...

This whole revolution march might end very badly I think. Maybe they don't realize what they are getting themselves into, or maybe they do, but aren't sharing those details with the people they are trying to recruit (which would be sadly reminiscent of what they are revolting against.)

What do YOU think?

I think "we" are outgunned and out-sheeped.
I think foreign troops will quell revolution as our own soldiers are mired in Iraq.
I thin Ron Paul has already begun a revolution of thought which precedes revolution of action.
I think those who survive the next 2 decades will have more stories to tell than our grandparents who made it through the depression and WWs.

Well, pretty soon the gov is going to try to take away all our guns, and i think it is because they fear a revolution. They say it's for safety. They scream about murderers and terrorists, but if you want to kill someone, you don't need a gun to do it. This country is so fucked up from the original idea of America, that I'm sure the founding fathers are rolling over in their graves.

A revolution? I would be one of the first to sign up if someone had a plan that remotely looked like it would work. A revolution these days would have to be all cloak and dagger, because the government has so many weapons that we wouldn't have a chance. We would have to be all V for vendetta style.

i would have to break revolution down to re-evolution... and say that revolution as it has been expressed and carried out, is, and always was doomed to failure because all it does is create further polarity... meaning it creates and enemy...us and them...

if great change is to come on this planet it must come from within the individuals that exist here. not from an outside source forcing their way in, But with the realization that we are all connected by the one light and that us and them is only an illusion...or delusion rather.... when this is realized we begin the re-evolution of our species.... it is not march down Babylon... its love down Babylon.... that is the only way for it to work.

time and time again forcing change has failed... we must aid in the awaking and hold love and compassion for those who are not there yet...just my take

Americans are soft.  We aren't going to fight in a revolution.  As somebody said earlier, revolution requires an entire population willing to die for a cause.  What cause could possibly promote that kind of behavior in the complacent american population?

Not to mention the fact that a revolution would be useless.  The government isn't "bad," it's just big, and in this industrialized age it really can't be any other way.  Our best hope for a new age will come with the demise of a petroleum based civilization.

Revolution is a pipe dream. At the moment anyway, once they start trying to put chips in our brains when maybe, just maybe we'll have enough opposition to take the power back.

They've done too good a job of conditioning us. We're sheep, even those few of us who aren't.

This is how you do it :thumbup:





French firefighters fighting the CRS riot police basically to get a raise. I'm thinking this "revolution march" will be a lot tamer than this.


The most important thing you can take to the march is a camera. Do NOT take your mobile phone because they will know you are there (yes they can do that, with great ease in fact) and they will probably close down the networks when things heat up anyway.

Make sure media people of all kinds will be there and make sure a lot of internet people will come with cameras etc so that there will be a flood of imagery on the Web when things do heat up.

If you want to communicate stuff, take portable CB units but know you'll be a target, and they may scramble the channel.

MAKE SURE THERE IS SOMETHING NEWSWORTHY TO SEE FOR THE MEDIA

Remember the student in Tienamnen square that held up the tanks by blocking their path?





You want to aim your cameras at things like that, the anonymous powerful government forces vs simple citizens.

If the march accomplishes anything, it is a change in the public perception, away from the government and towards the People.

If it remains peaceful, let it be magnificent. If its going to be a riot, make it the grandest riot the nation has ever seen.

I don't understand why Americans think that owning a gun gives them any sort of power over the government.  Maybe if you owned Apache helicopters, rocket silos, stealth bombers and warships, you'd have a better chance.  A gun is pointless at best and only serves to protect you against other armed civilians and stoke your fear.  It's a nasty circle.

:rolleyes: The government will have as good of luck trying to take away guns as they will trying to take away drugs.

Revolution, to most, is a steakhouse instead of McDonalds. This is why Revolution wouldn't mean shit. Fight for freedom, then celebrate with, what? Any revolution worth a shit would knock out all corporate ownership and we would only have about two or three real independent restaurants per metropolitan area.

To be sure, though, Iraq and Scotland are hardly comparable at this moment in time. I'm so ashamed of my country. :mad2:
Right when we need a strong leader with common sense and a realistic future plan, we have our elections stolen twice by a spoiled rich-kid with stock options.

The anti-intellectual bias has always served the USA well. So many mistakes could have been avoided if policy-makers would just 'skim' a history book or thirty.

Exactly.

Objection, protests, marches and even riots will accomplish nothing in the US.
Forget politics, meet the new boss same as the old boss, they all work for the same agenda.

The ONLY power of revolution we have as individuals is what we CREATE and how we spend our $.

If even a third of the population learned how to provide for themselves and refused to support major corporations with $ they would COLLAPSE.

Veggie gardens, biodiesel, solar power, autonomous housing, beekeeping, hemp weaving, home brewing... this is revolution. :brucelee:

Indeed. But IMO, we will need to physically protect ourselves against other citizens before we will need to protect ourselves from the government.

I think other people are more likely to turn to violence when they can't provide for themselves, be it due to the economy or steadily increasing price of seemingly everything.

Call me paranoid, but I think the worst is yet to come.

Cops are people too. So are government workers who DON'T make >100k a year, (~98.97%). If the economy really drops, and that will take the fall of McDonald's, Wal-Mart, AND online porn to happen... please be safe and have many organic drugs available. A pound of heady weed may just save your life 10-20 years from now.
