they want full shade outdoors,
sunny window inside,
do great under flourescents (i've used 6-8 40watt 48inch tubes),
let them dry between waterings,
humidity as high as you can get it (above 50%),
a slightly drier winter (slightly),
temps in the 55-85f range,
a good orchid fertilizer at recomended rates.

Google Phalaenopsis hybrids.

Easy to care for. Mine get very minimal sunlight indoors and are thriving. Just water once a week and enjoy their beauty.

Your local nursery or home depot should carry fertilizer specially for orchids. I normally feed them half of the recommended amount on the package once every other watering.

See if you can get them some orchid mix rather than just soil. Not entirely necessary but they'll like it. Might be an idea to get some living soil in with it too. Orchids have mycorrhizal relationships with fungi, so having a little ecosystem happening might help.

I like to have my Phals in pots the same diameter as the span of the leaves. Careful if you repot, the roots are very thick and easily broken, and its a big deal if you break roots. They have few of them, and can develop bacterial infections easily at the sight of a break.
Use a quality orchid mix, should be a bark\perlite\charcoal mixture. Try Home Depot or Lowes, but always support your local greenhouses if you can.
