what size tub's would be best?
    #830984 - 08/20/02 05:28 PM (21 years, 7 months ago)

went to walgreens today, im trying to find me a new SMALL fruiting chamber, i dont want to get those huge tubs because i have no where to fit em, yes i have a small room, so what. i saw some nice 12 quart size container's , tehir around the perfect size but their not tall enough, i can easily put perlite in it and a cake, but it only has about a inch or two to fruit. ofcourse thats not enough, so i was wondering if anyone has some pretty small fruiting chambers thats enough for jsut a few cakes and also has enough room for them to all fruit.

P.S: also if anyone has a recommendation on what size contaniers to size, itll be gerat. what brand, store where their in stock, etc.

I've never tried this, but I would think the mushrooms would grow with the lid. They wouldn't be straight up (they would be horizontally aligned), but that won't matter. They might be damaged if exposed to too much condensation from the lid, though.

If at all possible, I recommend getting a taller chamber.

10 gallon Rubbermaids (the Roughnecks) are not very tall. They are only about 9 inches or so.

I have a small rubbermaid container I got from walmart that would be pefect for you. Its a 38 quart/ 36 Liter size container. It can hold like 6 cakes with plenty of room for them to grow. Maby more if you squeeze them together. Right now I have one 9x13 sized casing in there right now and I wouldnt be able to fit anything else in there. It was only like 5 bucks too I think.

Before I got to your post I was thinking the same thing... At the mighty Wal-mart I have seen plastic storage tubs that are taller instead of being as wide as others. I don't remember the exact size, but they weren't extremely large.

Well, what size do you want? I've had specific measurements in mind, and between Wal-Mart and Target (and Rubbermaid and Sterilite), I've been able to find pretty much exactly what I wanted. If you go to stores like that, I think you will probably find something that works for you. Also, Rubbermaid and Sterilite both have websites.

I'm sorry, but this post confuses the fuck out of me. You want people to post the size of a good small container???

No insult, but that makes no sense!

Why dont you just goto the store and get the container that fits your size requirements.

Now, if you want us to tell you a good container that fits where you want it to.. well you NEED to tell us the exact amount of space you have.

Still again, the post makes no sense (sorry for bashing... but I can probably give you a good answer to a better question on the same topic)

I agree that this is silly, but I'll be silly.
Get the largest tub that still fits your limited area while allowing as much room above the cakes for shrooms to mature.

PM me with any cultivation questions.

I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.
